Anyone got experiance of the GRP wings on a Mk3 Cortina? Thinking of doing sacrelidge in the name of plastic. Some of those GRP wings fit OK, some don't, some only look vaguely like panels for the cars they are supposed to be for.
Thoughts?

Fitted some to a Mk3 Cortina years ago from S&D, no problems at all. Little bit of trimming here and there, no more rot. Sweet.

Got Alas Smith & Deakin wings on my truck (one's on, and one still to fit).
Fits like a glove... on your foot! I had to remove the A post mounting flange and make a new one from scratch 50mm further forward, extend the return edge towards the bonnet by between 3 & 25mm, etc...
Still, one's on and fits better than the steel one did when it left the factory...

My Imp has a Smith and Deakin fibreglass bonnet. Fits better than the original metal bonnet did. That's British cars for you. ;D

I've got S&D wings on the Ital estate - apart from some reinforcing of the inner wings (the metal ones were semi-structural) they don't fit too bad - better than some repro metal ones.....

I've got them on the Wolseley.
They were already on it when I bought it but I refitted them as best as I could because the rear edges were way out. The fit at the front and along the inner wing tops is not too bad, the worst areas appear to be the bottom rear sections as the profile is not quite correct.

maybe its down to how well people want a fit to be, we all have diffrent standards, i bought s&d wings for my viva, fitted them as they came, had a good laugh then spent around 20hrs per side making them fit proerly, and the overall surface finish was curse word to be fair, but i persivered and they came out exceptable
