I'm sure you used to be able to buy a GRP kit that looked very similar to this, can't remember the name of the maker but it was the same lot that made the 'Rat' beach buggy. Fibre-Fab perhaps?

Think it was called the 'Shogun' kit, I'm pretty sure it was made by Fibre-fab. If anyone's got some early 80's Street Machine magazines I'm sure the ad was in there every month.

I like the beetle Van a lot!! The Proportions look right. Beetle vans are a fuggin useless idea mind. Rear engine and Upright cooling robs all the load space, and there are no side doors to fit anything in!

There was another van - think it used Mk2 Scrote rear lights? Remember seeing it way back in the past in a magazine - a metallic red one with Baja-style suspension. Thought it was gorgeous!

and the later Tempos had an Austin engine, then the factory got sold to Hanomag, which had a new body fitted on their van, still using Austin engines... then Daimler Benz bought the Hanomag truck factory , the Hanomag got a star at the front.... the frame then was used up to the MB 100......

Quite right, saw some pics on the genaeology of these trucks. Thew early Merc vans have a lot of Hanmag DNA in them.

Aye, sort of front drive mid engined layout.
Regarding those Wizard Beetle vans, I like them as well, came very close to ordering a kit years ago. The windowed version was as Brian says a Shogun, think that was from UVA.
