I like weird, and unusuallll, OK, there , I said it. How many of these are still out there, and what do they sell for ? I saw one this year or last year for very little money IIRC. Tell me more, show me pics or tell me where one is hiding, because they do not seem to make it to the road much lately. The idea would be a race/rally replica. Surely they have to be ripe for some Slater-esque repairs..... ;D Found this cool resto thread too, just do not read much French. www.forum-auto.com/automobiles-mythiques-exception/section5/sujet378424-140.htm

Nice one Pog. Never saw that one before.
It is the sort of project that I will buy when it presents, and keep dry stored and locked up, (while collecting bits for it) until the one that lands on my driveway on the 27th is completed to a level where I am satisfied with.

I know where there's one of them. Think I may have pics of it somewhere on my computer (I'm on SWMBOs) at the mo, so I'll check later.

I had one for about a month earlier on this year. Lovely car, but the brakes were fubarred, and the dealer I bought it off failed to fix them, so I handed it back (BMW 1602/2002 brakes can get very expensive to fix, very quickly) I test drove 2 others as well. They're out there, but they're all rotten. Have a look here: www.bmw2002.co.uk/for_sale/index.htmlI could have had this for £1500, and it's local to me. The rot in the rear air vents put me off - difficult to fix. R

I would love one of these. Amazingly cool, just imagine one with a Pog-flavour 318iS engine and 5-speed. TEH ULTIM8 DA|LY

Isnt there something with these about the rear screen or side windows being completely unavailable anywhere?

I was looking at getting one earlier this year, very tempted, I really like them, 1602's in general are my favorite BMW's, the saloon floats my boat more though.

Isnt there something with these about the rear screen or side windows being completely unavailable anywhere? close. infact its ALL the glass. its one inch taller than stock 02 and is specific to tourings. fuel tank is another perculiar fitment too. and they rust out. lovely things tho, a guy used to come to my work in a cream one on black minilights. if they have tailgate rot, you'll need to look into getting it fixed, replacements are not to be found. worked on this one recently. it looks perfect. what you can't (and the owner can't) see is the gaping split of rot running down the a-post/bulkhead junction, where they rot behind the fusebox. and they also try to gas you to death as the tailgate and light seals are rubbish. on choke you could probably bottle the raw fuel vapour that comes into the boot on over-run and the boot is smaller than the saloon. still beautiful cars. have a gander round this guys site

I was going to buy the above car to convert my auto 02 but a lack of funds prohibits such fun so if anyone is interested its in Camborne. I reckon £500 will buy it and once you replace the good bits you'll be left with a solid 3 series so you can sell it and recoup ya outlay!!
