This was one of my loved bedtime books, Ive shortened the story a bit, but I loved the cars in the pictures.
Speedy the Mini
Early one cold and frosty morning Speedy had the shock of his life, when he started his engine there was a loud Bang! and clouds of black thick smoke burst out all over him, Bobby the bubble car heard the very loud Bang! and drove round the corner to see what it was.
Speedy tried again and was covered in black smoke for the second time, Bobby said we had better go and see George the garage man, they both told George what had happened, strange, said George, lets check your spark plugs and fuel filter.
After working on Speedy, George turned Speedy's key, again lots of smoke filled the garage, George thought that Speedy was going to catch on fire, so he ran and got a hosepipe and sprayed water all over poor old Speedy.
George then put Speedy on the lift, and checked all the things underneath, Well look at that!
your exhaust pipe is burst open, no wonder smoke is going everywhere, Whats this! cried George as he pulled something out of Speedy's tail pipe.
Some ones pushed a large firework up your exhaust pipe, when you started your engine this morning you set it off, and blew that big hole.
Why that must of been naughty Johnny Jones, last night he told me his football had rolled under me, and he was going under my bumper to get his ball back, George soon fitted a new exhaust, and Speedy was able to drive home with no more smoke.
