Hello,
Last month my mate Nick has bought himself another project. It will not be a very fast project as he has many other distractions/projects😅 but I'll try to update the topic as it goes along.
The truck was bought as an ex fire truck. It has not been on the road for many years. Former owner fixed the brakes and got it running but decided not to go further with it. Nick liked it, made an offer and bought it.
First we had to get it to the workshop. As it's quite big and heavy getting it transported would be costly. Luckily it drove so we arranged for some 'traders plates' to drive it home legally. 60km went perfect. Bit thirsty as it used 20L of Petrol on that trip..
It's got a 302ci 6 inline with a Clark 5 speed with PTO. Wheelbase is 179" and m.g.w. 19.000lbs. insanely big 20" wheels. high pressure and high volume pumps on board.
Upon arrival we weighed it at our neighbours place. 5680 kg as is. To be able to register it as a car we must get it under 3500kg but that should be doable. Pumps and rear structure is heavy stuff..
This weekend was spend dismantling the rear part of the truck. It is all rotten on the inside so it's just scrap metal. Cabine and frame are perfect fortunately.
