gtviva the 2.6 was worst of both worlds really. It's not fast and uses all the fuel. Apparently the 24v's are a bit better on juice and should be a fair bit quicker with another 50hp. Ian - point noted. The engine will be fully gone through before I fit it. I'm keeping it as an auto so don't want to fit uprated cams or anything so any extra bits of free power I can pick up will be perfect. Would be nice with a supercharger strapped to the side though lol. The 2.6 was a bit disappointing in my opinion, my estate was used as a van and with 2 up and the equivalent of 2 people in tools and gear I used to get 28 easy around town and getting near 40 on runs the auto wont be as good though, it was also driven very hard! At 28000 miles mine was showing 217hp on the rollers in standard form so you wont be disappointed Be interested how you get on with the rebuild as ive mine to do at some point! not sure what choice of gaskets you have but head set wise Ive used Adjusa which had a nice head gasket but some of the other gaskets were average I wouldn't mind trying a Payen head set but not sure if they still do one?

I did "try new things" and went to Ultimate Stance at the weekend. How did I get on? Post coming shortly. I was in Saudi Arabia all last week. How did I get on? Post coming shortly. Oh, the week before that I went on a road trip across 6 US states in a 25 year old Rover. How did I get on? Post coming shortly. I'm here for all these posts

MOT fail on the daily Range, luckily just a tyre though, unluckily they are over £200, *sigh*
Also got a reply from the Ad folks, I'll have a small guide for fixing their issue, although I think it wipes out all the cookies in your browser, which I don't really want to do, so going to see if I can add some surgicalness to it.

I've not had any problems with Ajusa gaskets, as a brad they're about as good as you can get without going OEM (if available). I'm gonna put the engine back to as new tolerances just because I can.

Seems very familiar, I wrote this post (for another forum) over 10 years ago to help deal with a similar situation Browser Cache / CookiesLog out of the forum, then depending on which browser you use do this:- Internet Explorer go to Tools/Internet Options In the Browsing history section click Delete, in the Delete Browsing History box, clear all the tick boxes except Temporary Internet Files and Cookies. Then click Delete Close then restart Internet Explorer and then try logging back into the forum. In Firefox (Chrome is similar) go to Tools/CLear Recent History if you can't see the details click Details arrow to get the menu, tick Cookies and Cache (untick the rest) then in Time Range select everything. Close then restart Firefox (or Chrome) and then try logging back into the forum. Board CookiesGo to the Forum Index page and scroll to the bottom and on the right hand side select "Delete all board cookies" You'll need to log in again afterwards

Rehab started for me this week, will be interesting to see how it goes, might be done by Christmas, might not who knows, if I could just get shot of this whole being sick thing it would help a lot. Hospital I am in now is peaceful and calm which helps a lot, and I can see trees and planes heading too/from Biggin Hill which is nice. Hopefully be home soon. Famous last words indeed. Turns out the extent of my illness and subsequent brain haemorrhage means I'm on some pretty strong meds. Found out this morning these restrict driving. For 6 months Every time they are adjusted. Which is being done soon. And then again, and again, and again. So June at the earliest I can drive. Balls. Quite the blow tbh but I will find a way to survive this set back I'm sure. It's going to affect everything for the next year or so I'd imagine. This is going to be a long slog indeed. Might be abl to convince the wife to take me to the weekender as she enjoyed it when we went last year (although she will have to drive so opinions might have changed.......)

Here's hoping things continue to, if slowly, improve for you there skinnylewTonight the headlight switch in the Princess that's always been a bit dodgy (for 12 years at least) decided to give up the ghost... obviously it did this while I was navigating trick-or-treater infested roads. Tried to fix it at the side of the road, which isn't particularly easy to do in the dark, and had to admit defeat and limp home on sidelights and hazards. Looks like the little plastic sprung-loaded push rods inside the switch have actually melted, one of them quite badly, so the switch couldn't operate. My spare was green and fuzzy inside but did work once cleaned up. As standard, there's no relay on the headlights on the Princess so this weekend I'm going to try and install the relayed wiring harness I got before I was ill. For now, I've unplugged one pair of headlights and have opted not to use main beam until I fit the new harness. Oh and I totally forgot that it's a weird looking car until kids starting shouting and pointing. When you live with weird for long enough it becomes normal.

Thank you for the messages of support, in the on going saga that is my life and health there is another development. ........ whilst not set in stone for obvious reasons, they have informed me of a discharge date from the hospital, 18th of December, home in time for Christmas hopefully 😁

I'd coated the Macan with Fusso Coat before we took it on our Scandinavian adventure last week and yesterday 2,000km of grime just fell off it with a quick hosing down. Well impressed. Stuck the winter wheels on as well. Not retro. But ten years old and with a pretty huge mileage on it...
