Over the weekend I had the time to do something I've been meaning to do for a while now... And pretty much as I suspected its transformed the car. The ride quality is way better, the level of noise is reduced and even the knocks and bangs from potholes and speed humps are reduced. The steering is lighter and more precise. Tramlining is non-existant now. I can reverse and turn without stuff dragging or making weird noises and horrid steering feedback. One of those "I really should have done this ages ago" jobbies. Its just 1000% nicer car to drive now. can you tell what I did? Clue.... before: I think it probably could use some proper front end alighnment work anyway. But I tell you what those 15's must weigh twice if not three times what the stock steelies do. I should have weighed them actually. So the quest is on for some decent 13s for the Cortina. widened dartboards always look good on Mk3s. Or maybe Capri LS steelies? Hmmm.... Amazingly among all these I have no 4 lug slots.... This is what I noticed f the collection while in the attic... Blimey. I like slot mags. Might go for a set of them for the Cortina if I can turn some up nice and at the right price. Anyone got any going begging? Other suggestions (with photoshops welcomed) of what Imight run on the ol' tin can?

tigran, indeed, you and I are thinkig the same thoughts there. Revos would be good too. The rounded spokes work well on the Mk3 I think. I always wanted a set of Alleycats (sp?) on my Avenger back in the 80s. Would look ace on this too.
Penski - Superlights look OK on Mk3s.

Banded Rostyles FTW! Although the dartboards would look better, come to think of it.

Rostyles would work well, the 1600E type are the best IMO. As its a white car with a bit of black I reckon a wheel featuring some black will do just nicely.

Any idea if any of those slots would fit an Amazon (same as American ford fitment)

[Joke]Blimey AK, you changed those wheels without rendering it immobile?[/Joke]
Not 100% sure about slotmags on a Mk3, would have to be Wolfrace with their angular slots and be reasonably deep IMO. I agree about the Revolutions and Rostyles, I also like the Appliance Steelspoke type on a Mk3 (used to be a lovely blue 2dr fitted with them in Sudbury). Detailed 4-spoke RS alloys?
My ultimate choice would be Appliance/Wolfrace Wiremags though.

Its amazing how much the right offset makes a difference! Out of interest it would be interesting how the dimensions of the alloys compared to the stock wheels.

i do have some 13x6 wolfies in 4x110 PCD, but i think they JUST won't work on a ford (allthough i used some fordwheels on my 4x110 pcd hubs, but they were steelies, not alloys), but i don't know if i allready found some 114,3 rear axle parts for my swap when my car is resprayed ;D

I'd take all the grief you talked about cause imo the alloys made that car!

The 15" steel spare wheels from the ford puma fit cortinas nicely even before you band them cos they have more offset than all the others. Not great but its the only pic I have of the ol' 2.8i Q car. As it happens i'd happily swop my Alley cats for a set of banded 15"steelies.

15" steelies off a Citroen Xsara. I'll try and get a photo later, a guy at work's got one with no hubcaps and like the Puma wheels they do have a bit of offset.

I'd guess that the 15" spare off a Puma is basically just a 15" steel Mundano wheel. 14" Mundano/FWD/Escort wheels look like a scaled up version of the standard 5x13 steel rim.
