For Sale: Polo MK2F GT Conversion Breadvan Vintage Fun Project Car with Character & Potential
Based in Sheffield
Open to offers
I'm reluctantly parting ways with my much-loved vintage car, a true gem for enthusiasts who appreciate a mix of nostalgia and performance. I've owned this car for over 15 years and enjoyed every moment, especially during the 4 years when it was my daily driver. I took it from 50k to over 100k miles.
Key Features & History:
Engine: Originally had a head gasket issue, but I sourced and installed a 1.3 GT engine last year. Got it back on the road this past spring, and it's been a blast to drive.
Performance: The acceleration is brilliant, and it’s a joy to drive—especially on a sunny day with the sunroof open and the engine revving. It’s comfy, fun, and full of life.
Upgrades & Recent Work:
Refurbished starter motor
Uprated alternator
New battery
Oil flush and new oil
New stainless steel exhaust
Condition & To-Do List:
Interior: The interior is in great condition, no major issues here.
Exterior: The bonnet has a slight fade, but it should buff up nicely. There's also a slight dent in the rear passenger side wing that should be easily fixable.
Engine: The oil pressure warning light comes on after running for a while, though I haven't found any clear reason for this. It’s something to keep an eye on.
Exhaust: The exhaust is large, and the rear bracket needs reattaching to the chassis.
Looking for the Right Buyer: This car is used and in need of a couple of bits to make it mint, but it’s full of potential and just waiting for the right enthusiast to bring it to perfection. I’m looking for someone who will cherish this car as much as I have. It’s not just a vehicle; it’s a piece of history with plenty of character. Ideally, you’ll keep it as a car and not strip it for parts.
It owes me about £3-4k, but I am open to reasonable offers. This is a rare opportunity to own a vintage car that’s nearly there—just needs that final bit of love to make it perfect. If you’re interested in a project that promises both fun and satisfaction, this could be the car for you.
Serious inquiries only, please. Let’s find this car a good home!
