New member here but I finally bit the bullet and acquired something that might amuse some of you.
I've been after a MK1 Granada for ages and finally found one at a decent enough price on Fleabay. Originally from Germany and then exported into France, it thankfully spent most of its life down south so its traded rotten sills, doors (fill in your chosen body panel) for a sun eaten interior. Originally from factory in Roman Bronze (AKA 70's Turd Brown), it was ran till the paint started peeling. The french farmer that owned it then decided to give it a concourse repaint with a tin of "Mat Noir" and a bog brush.
The lad I bought it off in Suffolk had only owned it for a half year and in his own words, wanted it to look "Lairy". Safe to say with a 4 inch roller and a tin of Daytona Yellow he pretty much succeeded !
Doubled up a trip to see my brother in Norfolk with picking it up approximately 180 miles away from home. Had to do a bit of improptue tightening on one of the exhaust downpipe after my lips went blue driving it back up North. Thumbs up to my eldest for being spanner monkey and Pete my brothers neighbour for the tools !
Leaving my brother with his head in his hands, a litre of chainsaw oil and a tyre in a can on the passenger seat, the old girl growled her 2.3 V6 all the way up the A1 without a blink !
Now all thats left to do is ... something Lairy !

Think they came out alreet ! I was debating whether to mess about getting a 2 tone finish, satin silver spokes and a polished lip but decided against it cos it'd just p*ss me off having to buff them all the time. Also had the time to get it up on the lift. Its amazing just how little bad rust their is on this old thing. Ok, some of that is down to the fact that the sump, gearbox and diff all seem to be leaking to some extent Ill get a few more pics up soon and make a note of what needs doing...

First *real* mechaincal job has been to sort out the old Solex carb. It starts fine but after warming up, it idles really lumpy. First I thought it was the thermostatic choke not fully operating once warm but a quick check of it and it seemed to be fine. Decided to give it a full strip down even though it looked relatively clean. Wish i'd got a good shot of it but the float bowl and i assume most of the jets were caked in a real fine orange silt. Quick run through the ultrasonic and its much better. Just waiting on some of those tiny o-rings for the idle jet adjusters. Left it in the kitchen and came back to heard my kids shouting about daddys "scary skeleton" ...

Well its been a tad quiet on the project front .. but on occassion fate seems to smile ! As I've said, the sunny south of France wasnt particularly kind to the interior of the old Nana.. the dash has deep cracks and a lot of the fabric and panelling is either worn, torn or in a state of disrepair. Dash cracks. Sun damage to the rear parcel shelf and rotted out seat covers. Sad interior is sad Now on a more modern motor, you'd jump on the interwebs or scan the local scrappers and get a decent donor to swap out. Unfortunately a 48 year old import doesn't really lend itself to this so I was left debating having the seats recovered by a local vehicle upholsterer, whilst obviously having a large amount of padding removed from my wallet at the same time !! .. and then I'm not sure why .. I'd like to think its karma from helping old ladies cross the road .. but something fabulous popped up on Fleabay... The lad was parting it out but he was an absolute gent and we came to a deal on the entirety of this interior .. Give over !!! ... A full, 99% intact black leather interior.. left hand drive .. with an intact dash. So .. just awaiting my brother collecting it and time to figure out a road trip to go pick it up .. the journey continues...
