Hi Everyone
Here's my latest project...
It's been off the road for about 20 years, any search of the reg number has no recorded MOT history.
It's in surprisingly good, solid condition although the rear bed is missing. Strangely it had been fitted with a new set of wheels and tyres.
These pictures show the car when I bought it.
The engine runs really nicely - there's only 45k miles on the clock so it may be genuine.
It's a 970cc Suzuki engine.
First job was a new timing belt, tensioner and water pump.
I then found the thermostat was completely blocked with something like Rad-weld. Part of the thermostat cover was missing and leaked. A new thermostat cover sorted that.
I changed the engine oil & filter.
Here's the old and new oil filters together - I've never seen such a rusty filter.
Next was a new clutch - removing the gearbox was very easy!!
Gearbox and rear axle oils have been changed.
The front springs had been cut down so much they had been welded to the spring seats to stop them falling out.
A replacement pair of springs were fitted to sort that.
The rear is lowered with blocks between the axle and springs and longer "U" bolts.
The front calipers were seized, so new pistons and seals were fitted.
All brake hoses and a few brake lines were replaced.
Current job is fabricating a framework to support a custom rear bed to be made from wood.
Respraying the car will be fun..
It appears to have been painted with a roller - this will take some rubbing down !!
