Hey Folks! Another week, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. I'm back from a delightful week away in West Wales, managed to do it with a minimal amount of 'work' being done as well. Feeling pretty good right now. First positive is I'm finally clearing the backlog of Club RR members mailing. So if you are one of the very excellent Club RR people you should get getting your sticker and this year's gift thing (if you are a GTI member) this week, or early next. I can only post so many out at once before the Royal Mail tell me the van is full! I've had an on going issue on the updated mobile version of the site that makes posting a proper pain in the backside. I think I've found a solution to that now, so going to give that a go. Although I did throw my toys out the pram (with myself) and start restyling the thread view as I didn't like it on mobile at all. So may be a little while before that comes out. Shows are all bubbling away, lots of plans in place for Weekender 2025, obviously Gathering and Quick60 to deliver first, and got some great plans for improvements for Gathering. All in break was good for me, ready to do things. Only minor downer is the RR 20th Birthday Camp Out didn't get any purchases in time to make it make sense. Which is understandable as there is A LOT going on over the summer. Might see if we can do something low key at Ace in January. What you been up to? My Crossfire came back from welding more quickly than I expected so now it's on me to sort out the bodywork on the wings and bumpers, as well as try and remember where all the various bolts went, to put it all back together 😅

RRG in this looking increasingly unlikely but I'll give it a go. Possibly more annoying that I've been hitting self imposed time targets for things to be done by and was on course to be done but more and more welding is needed and I was hoping to be further into the fun stuff now. I could just bolt all the bits back on and it'd pass a MOT as none of the new holes can be seen but that seems a bit silly.

Usual place, look behind the strut tower where the wiring goes through!

Aye it's gone through there too, and the floor where it joins the inner arch. Nowt a bit of welding won't sort, though I'm just gonna stick a bit of thick plate under the wiring loom for protection and plate the bit you mention up from underneath as I'm not disturbing a 30 year old wiring loom as that seems like it's asking for trouble.

Yep tell me about it! Other side but I've done the drivers side

This isn't anywhere near as bad as that luckily. Rest of the metal is clean and bright so easy enough to sort, luckily the carpet has pulled up far enough that I can move the wiring aside and get access to it all.

My friend changed his plans due to family issues so no wiring was done on the Midas last Friday. Instead I helped him cut some wood up for the kitchen he's making for his T5 Camper. Fingers crossed he can come over and do some Midas electrickery this week. Just watching an electrics expert do their thing is fun - I know nothing about electrics and I struggle to understand even the most basic thing unless someone is telling me exactly what to do. Plus he's good fun to have around!
Otherwise I shall continue to piece together the first of the doors. It's not the easiest thing to do...

If you want a couple of these punched out let me know, it will just be an oversize off cut that would need shaping to fit but the hole/hole style is correct for both sides

Yesterday spent chasing up engines... 25" flathead Chrysler "Spitfire" engine collected(so called as it has "Spitfire" cast into the head) ... no room in the van for the 360 Mopar unit so second run out next week for that one... However, more tragically a post office disaster this morning. What is this small box of rattly contents I hadn't been expecting.... ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

Been trying to tidy the garage, garden, house, everything lately. Still have a lot of the detritus from two houses in one. Popped a post up on the local Porsche forum saying that I've got some used 964 M030 springs that I'll exchange for some beer if anyone wants them, otherwise they're off to the dump. Space cleared, someone helped with their project, stuff kept out of landfill, and I've got twelve tins of Limburg's finest pilsener. Happy days.

I have spent far too long trying to unseize track rod ends on the wife's daily 1 series. Alloy track rod end, steel inner rod.. No play in anything anywhere, but tracking is out so they needed to be free, first garage had a go at tracking. Managed one side but couldn't get anything moving on the other. Destroyed the flats on the end in the process and decided to not mention this.
I finally just gave up, bought new inners and outers and removed the whole lot as an assembly. New ones in, took half an hour... Should've just done that to begin with.
Tracking tomorrow. Hopefully that bloody thing is sorted for the foreseeable.
Who needs 25 screws for an undertray... I COUNTED! Took longer to do the try than the rods.
It also had a new fog light as the lens has been cracked since we had it. I also managed to buy the wrong size centre caps for the wheels. One of Two options, I've replaced them before. Still got it wrong... Nevermind.

My wife is from Carmathen and used to holiday over that way when she was a kid. Friend of my wife is organising this at the weekend, if you are around : www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100081487846359
