I really wanted to do this, but don’t have a racecar ready this year so I followed it in the Astravan I also helped Rob in the blue Passat that eventually won, was a great weekend in-spite of the weather. I think of the Astra as pretty modern (90s design and build) so it had most things that a modern car has.. but even I felt jaded after driving in the torrential rain, so much respect for the guys in racecars! Was really good racing, friday was written off for weather. The brown cortina won at Melbourne, about 0.4 seconds ahead of the Passat (and both quicker than Ugly Sister ‘56) At Santa Pod, the Passat was quicker than the Cortina by about a second, so won overall but was some great racing. Unfortunately Ugly Sister pulled out on the return leg, but would have been quicker than both back at Santa Pod. The combination of racing on the unprepared 1/8th track and fully prepped 1/4 really mixed things up ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Cool photos, thanks ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

I really wanted to do this, but don’t have a racecar ready this year so I followed it in the Astravan. Ah I guess this was you then? My Dad and I were wondering whether or not to go to York Raceway but the rain said no. It's strange at Melbourne, quite a few people I know who drag race say they are faster at York than the Pod.

Cheers for the snaps! This was our little group for the event, also a teal 3rd gen camaro somewhere and a honking great Chevy truck support vehicle haha It was an absolutely fantastic weekend, the weather was insane! After this stop we headed to the Great Northern Classics, as we were about 5 mins out from there an insane storm broke out... Thunder, lightning, hail, it was mental. Couldn't see the road, we all lost eachother and it turns out with that amount of downpour my car started to leak quite badly straight onto my throttle pedal, so I had an ice cold (very wet) foot for quite some time after that haha Sun came out as soon as we parked up at GNC and it was then a lovely afternoon! Really fun weekend and I am sure this event will go from strength to strength. Last year was a blast, this year levelled up, can't wait to see what comes next... Rumours of a track in a different country are floating around... Scotland? France? Who knows!

Also by pure luck my Dad got a picture of this back in the 80's and I remembered the number plate.
