Apologies for the post regarding not-awesome-old-car related content, but as usual Google is worthless as I'm not trying to buy anything and searches of FB pages reveal many people asking the question but zero people answering it..
(Funnily enough the closest I've come to anything remotely relevant was a conversation between Dez and KFW from another forum from 2009 😂)
Anyone know how to decipher the codes stamped on the diff casings to what ratio internals are inside?
Just swapped my axle on my van, mainly because the brakes were absolutely atrocious and obsolete, the diff seal was leaking and various other reasons.
I know the minibuses have a longer ratio diff to the panel vans, and the chassis cabs had various ones. So I took the one out of my panel van, and replaced it with one I removed from a minibus. Obviously the assumption was it would be better on the motorway, which is good because I do a lot of miles, but sadly it seems to have gone completely the other way, and now screams it's balls off at 60.
Obviously swapping the axle was as fun as it sounds, and I don't really want to be doing it again to get it back to running reasonably on long hauls. Does anyone know if the diff internals are interchangeable?
