Nearly three years ago we moved house. It is delightful. One of the delights is the two car garage. However as is the way with these things it ended up as a bit of a dumping ground post move.
It did briefly have a car in it, and I discovered something I hadn't anticipated, or at least I'd taken for granted in my previous single car (but with space) garage. It was a tight fit in this one.
The garage is 5.3m long, but with the workbench at the back and where the big doors are in relation to the walls, it is all quite a bit more snug than I'd like.
In my previous garage I had my treadmill and workbench at the back with enough room to walk around the car. Clearly not going to happen here.
So I hatched a plan to rework what I was doing. That was in October 2021. Since then I've done nothing. I've moved more curse word in to the garage, occasionally done a tip trip, made space, filled space. Rinse and repeat.
So in recent weeks I've been thinking "when the whether improves I'm going to do something with this damn garage". Then a letter arrived. Friday 17th May we'd have an all day power cut for them to trim trees along the cables.
For those that don't know I work on RR stuff on Friday (have a proper job the rest of the time). Being a week after Weekender meant I'd not have too much buzzing around my head, a day free and no power so computers were out. All of which meant when the power went down I was standing looking at this:
I have a bigger scheme which I'll detail in another post, first though I wanted one side of the garage totally cleared, end to end. I want to be able to put a car in the garage and walk around the front and back. This means I'm going to have a period of sorting stuff and throwing out stuff and storing stuff and organising stuff.
First load to the tip left the garage looking like this at lunch.
After a bite to eat it was back in and rearranging. The main aim for today was to get in a position where I could move the workbench from the back left to the front right of the garage.
***** SPIDERS ALERT *****
If you don't like spiders, scroll quickly past this bit.
We have a lot of nature around our house, which means I have a lot of nature in the garage, which results in things like this:
I found the culprit and put her outside
She isn't the only one (nor the biggest one) in there, so you may end up with a few more spider posts.
***** SPIDER ALERT END *****
With the spider(s) removed we picked up the workbench and moved it to its new spot.
This left me at around 3pm with this:
Tomorrow I need to spend some time sorting out post Weekender stock taken and packing away that stuff in the loft. My intention is to spend an hour or so getting another tip run and charity shop haul together, as well as list some stuff on local FB marketplace for free to be picked up.
I also need to do some measuring to draw up my plans to share with ya'll
