I've been on RR for a long time but not so active lately, but since I'm in the paddock for Pop Tarts and have track time at Weekender, I thought id start a thread and reintroduce myself.
There is an old thread here from Felix, the previous owner, the car is a credit to him and the 50,000 miles hes put on it.
Ive had it for just over a year, moved to this from an AE100 you may recognise from previous Weekenders
Otherwise ive had a Capri, Porsche 924 and lots of Mk2 Golfs.
But recent years Ive been playing with more modern Alfas.
Brief overview
1989 Corvette C4 Z51 6 speed ZF manual
One year model with the Z51 6 speed manual, but with the early body shape and interior including digital dash!
Being Z51 it has larger brakes, PS oil cooler, stiffer springs, Dana 44 HD Diff with Performance 3.54 gear ratio, quick rack.
Originally sold in Canada, it had every performance option including the active suspension (long gone in favour of Bilstein shocks)
L98 350 CI V8 with TPIS mini ram intake
Ram hydraulic conversion clutch & lightweight aluminum flywheel
Poly bushed everything!
Champion Triple row aluminum radiator
58mm Holley billet throttle body
Scorpion 1.6RR
Custom tune, it has a really wide power band and feels a lot more European than you expect.
Bilstein B8 shocks all round
Speedline Alessio 3pc Split wheels originally from an Aston Martin DB7 GTS 18x9.5 front 18x11 rear.
Smog delete pulley
Long tube headers
Stainless steel dual exhaust
Lowered suspension
Air Con Delete
I've spent most of my time with it so far either enjoying tearing up the Devon countryside, or getting it ready for some longer trips to the continent.
Most parts are easy to find in the US, unless its the one year 2.0 LTL quick rack, which was the major purchase over the winter, no rebuild parts currently in stock anywhere but at least I have a spare now! Good thing I go to the US 3 times a year for work.
Ive spent the past few weekends doing a full paint correction ready for this year, general upkeep and fitting a new rear brakes and calipers and an NRG Boss / Quick Release / Momo California.
Plans for this year include
Front Brake upgrade to C6 Z51 spec and bias spring
Paint on the mirrors and Tailgate hatch
Wheel rebuild with titanium hardware (one leaks, bolts are going rusty)
Tidy up where the Air con was removed.
Mild 2 Wild Roof Brace so it goes round corners with the roof off.
Cruise and the blower doors all run off vacuum which is missing, so looking to reinstate that.
Heres a few more photos
Still not convinced all our camping stuff and helmets will fit
