	Afternoon all, My "new" daily has quite a bit of surface rust under the back end. Still at the point where it's only surface rust, but I reckon another winter and it will need welding if left. My thoughts are, pop the rear wheels/suspension/bumper off and wire wheel all the rust off (most likely the nylon wheels), treat the metal, and then apply some kind of undercoat/bed liner type product. What products actually work for this? Rust stop/rust converter/sealer?/stonechip or bedliner paint. I don't want to go full 80's and just cover everything in tar type stuff lol.

	well thing is, if you use these bed liner coatings, you need it to be really good as in no wax or grease on anything, all keyed surface etc. I have a R100 metro, i tried to get as much scabby stuff off as i could, then i mixed 20/50 and waxoil, and coated the life out of the underside. Now, the idea is, the oil seeps into all the places i cant get to, and the waxoil provides a longer life coating. I plan to do this every year, and the reason i went this was is of lakeside auto body - jerry, did a vid on repairs he did many years ago, and how he uses used engine oil, or on doors he uses wd40. click here that not the vid i wante dto show but you get the idea. hth

	I've got something very similar to do this summer (2010 fiesta) my plan is clean it all back with wire wheel or similar, treat with converter then go over it with something like Bilt hamber UB, I use a 50 50 mixture of clean engine oil and waxoyl in box sections, its preseved a TR7 for the last 30 years.

	Treat the rust with something phosphoric acid based after cleaning most of the rust off, then paint with chassis black, finish off by lathering it in some sort of wax underbody treatment
