I sold my Yamaha maybe 10 days ago, plan was to give up biking... Picked this up for £675 on Thursday... 1992 VFR 750 Honda V4. Many previous owners, last few with no idea. No mot but runs very well. I have until 2/4/24 to get it ready for an mot test, tyres are ok, forks and brakes are ok, all electrics work. There are missing fasteners in the fairing and front mudguard I am tackling first, involving, drills, plastic welding, super glue and fiberglass. I love it... 😍

Boy she is unloved, butchered master cylinder screws, downpipes... Actually not blowing. Many fasteners replaced. Managed to get a front and rear paddock stand for a vfr @ £60 today, Haynes manual arrived 😁

I quite like the VFR's, some interesting engineering went in to them, good luck bringing yours back up to spec If they stay so cheap, I might have to pick one up...

MOT booked for 9am 2/4/24, they are perfectly happy with loud exhausts. Pulled the calipers off this morning, cleaned everything up, ordered new pads and the rubbers for the slides... No play or wobbles from the front wheel. Back wheel off, if it had a 170 section rear tyre I could have got it out without removing the tail pipe. Wheel is all clean and it gave me access to the inside of the pro arm for a clean. I need to work out how to adjust the chain without a centre stand. Mirrors have been prepped, filled, I'll paint them tomorrow. I'm sure I can hear the bike whispering 'finally, someone loves me' 😇

Star-date 14.48 30/03/24. I am one body panel away from being mot ready. I drop the bike from the front paddock stand, then go and put the kettle on. Made tea and come back to the bike, sit on the floor with the panel, notice fluid by the wheel, check the caliper, fluid on it, I have rebuilt the calipers, should be no leaks, feel above, fluid... Bloody fork seal has popped, really popped. Hard to get the parts on a bank holiday weekend. MOT cancelled on Whatsapp. Parts ordered, wooden frame made to support bike, nearly daughters fella and I lifted the front, wife put stands in, front stripped, just waiting for a delivery now... 😤

Went back to See how we have done at 09.35... Failed, one item, sticking throttle. Couple of advisories, back tyre, chain and sprockets and exhaust blow, about what I figured. Thinking back to reassembly after fork seals I did not think to check cable routing, sticking throttle is probably down to me. UPDATE UPDATE... Not down to me, one of the cables is sticking, ordered both.

Always a good day when you just have to buy a new tool... Suitably beefy, what's it for?

Always a good day when you just have to buy a new tool... Suitably beefy, what's it for? Read Hub nut, it is suggested that someone sits on the bike, in gear, foot on the brake while the other person gets a huge breaker bar on it... 😁
