Strange thing today, went to power up the car after doing a small bit of rewiring, wire for wire, so it should not be an issue, turned the master key in the boot, and nothing, not even the interior light, checked the battery, 12.7v, but nothing at the other side of the MEGA 100a fuse, bit weird, no other fuses blown anywhere, no smell of burning, nuffink. bearing in mind I have been driving the car about prior to this without issue, checked my bit of rewiring and can't see an issue. The only thing that is in my memory, a little while ago I installed extra starter button under the dash, leaning over the car I leant on the button, car was in gear and the handbrake applied, could that have blown a 100a fuse in the starter circuit, or, could it fatigue thru heat cycles ,

As for dealing with any fuse blowing instantly like this from a dead short, replace the fuse with a bulb, and then you can safely go round looking for the short to earth until the bulb goes out.

Colin Thanks Colin, I removed the blown 100a fuse, and ended up fitting a fuse holder on a fly lead, fitted a 10a fuse, turned on the power, ignition lights all came up, as did the interior lights, and stayed on, although I did get a strange noise come from a relay, thats where I am starting from, find that a bit strange, as I an sure tall the relays are normal low amp relays and would burn out before a 100a fuse, I now need to check all the relays, one is negative switching for the fuel pumps direct from the ECU, plus all the relay outputs are fused,

It could be water in the relay making the points opening and shutting quickly, the same principle as an electric bell, and/or provide a short to earth.

Just looked at the relays, and realised the earth stud was loose, no more noises from them now its tight, connected up the the sub loom I made yesterday for my cooling fan, put a 30a fuse in the temp holder, tripped the relay and all still works, SO, I have ordered some more 100a Mega fuses, should be with me tomorrow, so I can replicate the accidental start in gear, just to see if it will blow the fuse,
