I bought a C2 VTS a few months ago as a daily. It's a really nice car, and is nearly perfect ...
The suspension is standard but it's super-hard, and the interior seats are super-soft so absorb a lot of the bumps.
I'm sure I'm getting really jerky/lumpy idle and acceleration from the car. It got worse recently - an EML came up and it was a misfire. I changed the ignition coil unit (these have two coils for four cylinders 'wasted spark' ignition), which improved that fault, but it still has that roughness which I just can't define, but I definitely know it's not the suspension/ride. The whole of my area has pretty much changed to 20mph entirely and it's just undrivable at that low end as this is when it feels the worst.
It's a TU5 1.6 16v engine, pretty much identical to the Saxo VTS and 106 GTi. What goes wrong on these that would cause this - I know the coils fail quite a bit, and the wiring loom also. Throttle position sensor? Engine mount? Surprisingly, there's nothing on Google search on these, and Saxperience has been down for ages for me.

Is it the model with the Sensodrive gearbox? If so, it could be that. Cleaning the throttle body and resetting the auto adaptives would be a good start, provided you don’t have any other fault codes to deal with. Is yours a VVT version or a normal one? Another area to look at if it is. Also, be wary of cheap coil packs on TU’s. I’m not sure if the 16V uses the ignition phase detection system but the 8V does and cheap coils play havoc with it and often throw a code.

No, it's just a normal gearbox on this, I'm not sure if it's VVT either, I think just standard 16v. I read about resetting the auto adaptives - that seems to be the advice on the internet, I have no idea how to do it though. There is nothing online about the C2 really.

from the french my car forum suggest lexia software I think he is referring to the auto adaptives? where the ECU learns driving styles etc? If so then you can do this with Lexia (depending on the ECU fitted), It is under the sub menu- initialise auto adaptives. It resets the ECU back to base settings & does not need access to the PSA servers. It should be done when replacing certain components like oxygen sensors & electronic throttle bodies etc, Lexia advises when you go into the menu. The procedure varies slightly depending on which ECU is fitted. Some it is literary just a click of the button, some require a road test.

the VTS is a manual TU5JP4S, the 125 bhp variant, the GT was the odd 110 bhp that could have the automated ma box.
same block and crank as the earlier 106 120 bhp engine, the management system is a step further on from the 106 being fly by wire and two lambda sensors.
there is no vvt, just map and throttle, coolant temp and air temp and crank signal.
