Hello. This is my first post here . I am looking for some help with recommendations for garages preferably in the south east but I am willing to go anywhere in the UK. I have a Volvo 240 that I would like to engine swap for a turbo redblock . If anyone has had this done I would love to get an idea of the cost . I have the turbo engine already . Just need to find the right place to do the work ( and save up!) Thankyou .

I don't know of any garages in particular, but if you can work an engine crane and a socket set, they're about as straight-forward as it goes.
A garage will charge you upwards of £50ph to do it and you're looking at a decent amount of time
What year 240 is it? This can affect how easy things like the wiring are

Hi, it’s an 88 but unfortunately not the lh2.4 edition ! I have somewhere to get a new harness and change it to lh2.4 first . Thanks for your advice . I was hoping to get it done at a garage as the car is my daily drive . Once I have upgraded the engine loom ( and flywheel I think) I may have the confidence to attempt the swap! Many thanks .

If you're going to change the flywheel and wiring, you'll have done the hard yards. The exhaust downpipe and intercooler are the pretty much the only remaining 'hard' bits Have a read of this, written by bugjam1999: Volvo forum threadAlso have a look at my old volvo thread

Hiya,
As above, I wrote the guide mylittletony linked to - i turboswapped my 1988 back in 2015, before there was much in the way of online guides or help- I wrote the guide to help people avoid a lot of the frustrations I had.
Happy to talk you through it- as you’ve seen you’ll need a wiring loom which might be the most complicated part. The cost of having the car converted by a garage would probably be too much to make it a viable project, since £50ph would add up really quickly.
If you can borrow another car and take the 240 off the road for two weeks, then it’s not a difficult engine swap to do if you’re keen?
Happy to answer any questions you have. I’ve got a project thread here on retrorides that has a fair amount of detail.
Cheers
