1966 Ford Corsair Resto-mod

Maybe some wide Rostyles instead of alloys? Sounds like the start of an epic build though.

Thanks for the comments everyone, will be off to the blasters in the near future once I’ve worked the logistics out of getting it there and then I can get stuck into some of the shell repairs.

The shell does look to be pretty good, the odd poor repair to try and tidy and a few small repairs but hopefully nothing too major. 

The Corsair is now at the blasters, but I took some pictures just before it was loaded onto the trailer. I did remove the dash after the pictures were taken before it left. It does look a decent shell I’m hopeful that we won’t get a rot box back, there will be some holes to repair and some poor repairs to tidy but I’m not overly concerned.

I had a good conversation with the guy doing the blasting who said he does plenty of old cars but had not seen a 2 door Corsair before. He was reassuring with his opinions of what to do and where to avoid blasting to protect the large rear quarters and outer panels. He’s going to focus more on the chassis/floor/engine bay area’s and only do outer panels and wings where it looks necessary, to avoid any damage or distortion. 

Time will tell in a week or so’s time, will upload some pics when I’ve got it back and can really see what we are working with.

I feel like fitting five lug wheels would be worth it.

Got it back from the blasters last week, better than I was expecting with not much rot but my word there were some pretty poor repairs under lots of filler.

Going to be replacing both sills and both inner wing tops, as well as work on the front valence and slam panel, boot floor & rear valance.

Luckily the bulk of the arches, floors and chassis are really
Solid but still a lot to get stuck into.

Time to break out the grinder!

That looks ok, what are you going to do to stop it rusting again?
