1966 2 door RHD Ford Corsair resto-mod. I’ve always wanted a 2 door, but they were sold in tiny numbers in the UK, mostly in mainland Europe which were LHD but I managed to get my hands on a South African car which was RHD from factory. One of not many in the UK, pretty rare but also not necessarily well known or popular. It’s a bare rolling very solid shell, originally a 1500 pre cross-flow automatic. I’m going to have it shot blasted and then a full nut & bolt restoration. I'm thinking of keeping it looking original other than lower with some nice alloys, but with the sleeper effect of modernisation underneath. Some injection, a 5 or 6 speed gearbox so it’ll keep up with modern traffic, that type of thing. So here we go, first 2 pictures are the day I got it home.

Maybe some wide Rostyles instead of alloys? Sounds like the start of an epic build though.

I had a 2 door Corsair late 70s, early 80s, they were sold in the UK from dealers, but never very popular, Mine was on 6" Lotus wheels, (Genuine "Special Equipment" wheels) very low, and an Ian Walker built 1500, Paint was Rover chocolate brown with a white roof. Good Luck with the rebuild, looks to be a reasonable shell

Thanks for the comments everyone, will be off to the blasters in the near future once I’ve worked the logistics out of getting it there and then I can get stuck into some of the shell repairs.

Maybe some wide Rostyles instead of alloys? Sounds like the start of an epic build though. I am spoilt for ideas, I do agree some rostyle wheels would look great. I must admit I am not a fan of 13” ford wheels on corsairs, in my opinion they are too small so it will be more of 15/16” alloys, but something period enough to not be offensive.

Sounds like a lovely car 👍🏻 The shell does look to be pretty good, the odd poor repair to try and tidy and a few small repairs but hopefully nothing too major.

Unfortunately no, I think it was about 1976/7 when I had that, so a fair few years ago, about that time I also had a Mk3 Zodiac Farnham Estate, both I wish I still had today

There are some Ciroen C5 alloys that look like steel wheels and are 5" too, if you can find any. The track day crew and rally lot like them as they are very light and 4x108 pcd

I feel like fitting five lug wheels would be worth it.
