So, my loadstar doesnt have a tachometer, and i wanted to fit one, as the dash looks odd to my eyes with the blank space where one would be fitted,
So to that end i bough an original 4000 rpm tacho and dash panel for it, however the original is mechanical, and is driven via a take of off on the distributor, which my engine doesnt have, and more to the point they are pretty hard to come by, and have a governor built in that i would need to deal with
adding to this mechanical tachos can apparently be a little unreliable? not really sure as never had experience with them
anyway was thinking of converting it to electric operation, has anyone here done that?
i don't have the dash yet as its on its way from the usa, but idea i had was swap out the guts with those from a electronic one, then just need a wire to the coil, alternative was to have a stepper motor drive the original via an adaptor and make up some circuitry that reads engine speed and converts it to motor rpm.. but that seems a less ideal solution.
