So I'm browsing car sales sites and find one I like the look of and did an MOT check on the government site, as you do and this comes up;- (p.s. I've blanked out the reg number myself) So what does that mean? I've never seen it before. is this the same as a factory recall to fix a known defect? The car is about 9 years old. The actual MOT history of the car wasn't too bad, just a couple of advisories for tyre wear, no mention of corrosion, but this waning looks like a big red flag (even though it's blue).

Just need to get it booked in with your local dealer , if it’s still outstanding .
It will be a safety recall .
No charge to you , although beware the ‘dealer upsell’ !!
I think they DVSA started doing this around 6 months ago . 👍

As said, it is a manufacturer recall, needs booking in for whatever free update or replacement part

Well that explains that then, though if the dealer hasn't bothered to get it fixed before putting it up for sale then I'll give it a miss. There's no shortage of Focuses (or similar) for sale so I'll wait for one with fewer grey areas in it's history.

Whilst it's not a big deal in this case, where you or the vendor could take it to a Ford main stealer. I'm surprised the vendor hasn't done it already, or he may even have done it already, and it's just a delay in updating the system. What it does indicate is an attitude to maintenance of the vehicle in general.

Agreed. If I was looking for something rare/classic or super cheap for it's type then I'd be willing to take a punt on it but when we're talking belly button daily drivers why bother.

It might of had the recall it doesn’t update instantly all the time It’s down to the repairing dealer to update the records and process what would most likely be carried out under the warranty claim process which tend to get updated in batches
Our works vito had an air bag recall that took nearly 6 months to update on the system but the Skoda courtesy car was updated with in a month
