Okay...a little bit of fun here...
Pick one road car, one track car and one rally car from each decade: 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's (to date).
My choices:
50's •Road - Lotus Seven •Track - 1959 Cooper Climax •Rally - Porsche 550 Spyder (1954 Carrera Panamericana)
60's •Road - Lamborghini Miura •Track - Lotus Cortina •Rally - Has to be a Mini Cooper
70's •Road - mkII Ford Escort RS2000 •Track - Jaguar XJ12 (Andy Rouse car) •Rally - Lancia Stratos
80's •Road - VW Golf GTi (mkI) •Track - Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 •Rally - Lancia Delta S4
90's •Road - Audi RS2 •Track - McLaren MP 4/8 (Senna, 1993, Donnington. No more needs to be said) •Rally - Ford Escort Cosworth
00's •Road - Ariel Atom 2 •Track - Radical SR3 Turbo •Rally - Peugot 206
Well that took a lot longer than I thought it would...

Very hard this! 1950s Road - Volga M21 Track - Always liked the XK120 myself Rally - Merc 300SL from the Panamericana if that counts 1960s Road - Trabant P601 Track - Hillman Imp (3 times BTCC champion! ) Rally - BMC Mini Cooper (3 times Monte Carlo winner) 1970s Road - Volvo 2 series (I know many of them were 80s but they started in the 70s) Track - Has to be Big Bertha! Rally - Sunbeam Lotus (Dammit all my choices have already been picked! ) 1980s Road - Volvo 7 series Track - Ford Fiesta in various forms, great little low cost racers, Knockhill style, they're still very common over there! Rally - The almighty Group B Puegeot 205! 1990s Road - Can you see a theme emerging? Volvo 9 series, last of the rear drive Volvos. Track - Volvo 850 T5 estate, for embarrassing everyone in the BTCC! Rally - Subaru Impreza, I loved those things when I was in high school, until I discovered customs and classics! 2000>Present Road - Dacia Logan, the 21st century Lada Zhiguli/Trabant, Renault should release it here, I'm sure you've all seen some pretty awful clapped out Novas/Fiestas that were once nice cars but years of rust and neglect have turned them into deathtraps who'll never make it to the next MOT, just because their owners can't afford much else, we need a cheap, dependable alternative like the Logan that's £3.5K new, imagine the second hand price! Track - I'm going to be different and say the Locost/Caterham/Westfield 7 style cars, becuase they're so easily personalised/made to your own requirements and budget, that really they're capable of any amount of motorsport success, and simple enough to fix and maintain at a decent cost, or so I'm told. Rally - Nissan Navara based Paris>Dakar Pickup, as I've always been interested in mad races/rallies like the Dakar (and the Plymouth Dakar! ) and besides the Navara looks dead hard! Bloody hell that took ages!

With seven style cars you can go from a basic Locost (supposedly £250, but more likely £1.5k), to a Zetec Westfield (12.5k) to a Caterham Superlight R500 (£35k)

Edit: Ooops, just seen the first car on the first list Adam Your point being comrade? ;D ;D ;D ;D That's what I mean though, a seven style car can be made into a very capable little car for relatively little, I like cars like that, Ariel Atoms are all very well but I certainly can't afford one! £1.5K sounds far more reasonable, although I'm still bloody skint!

Quite agree with the Volvos ,Revolution 9, everybody seems to over look that they KICKED ASS in the tourning car championships for a few years in the early 90s! Canne be arsed to fill it all out but the Volvo T5 would deffo be in there for road car in the 90s, with its 2.5 Turbo spitting out 250bhp, heehee

If only they'd put T5s in the rear wheel drive 9 series, that would have been great, although it might have took sales off the 960. You're right though, in the 90s lots of euroblob owning curse word went round sneering that Volvos were old mens' motors, until their Mondeos and the like had their a*ses kicked y a Volvo ESTATE in the BTCC! ;D ;D ;D
