1975 Ford Granada Mk1 South African Import

Once the car was home the mission to tidy it up began.
Structurally the car is one of the best shells you could hope for. It has no previous welding repairs and no waxoyl or underseal underneath hiding any nasty bodges. However, the paint and interior has suffered in the South African sunshine. None of this was a surprise to me as InboundRHD had supplied me with an abundance of pictures and a good description of the condition of the car so I knew exactly what I was getting.

For a minute it's a case of making the best of what I've got until funds allow.

First job was obviously a good wash and polish.

Followed by a bit of a bum lift lol

The original tail light lenses were broken and faded so I found a pair of undamaged but faded uk lenses and set about restoring them using nail varnish remover to take off the old colouring and some Tamiya model paints to recolour the lenses.

Banded steel wheels came next along with new track rod ends and rear wheel cylinders













Also swapped the consul spec grille for a Granada one

I see it was a Worcester car. Reg prefix CW.

I used to work there as part of my Cape Town area. Dated a nurse there too.

Essentially a dry area known mainly for wine production.

So the car should have really good bone.

Love that colour and the steels change the look a lot.

I know some SA cars can be a bit hit and miss but this one is definitely one of the better ones. I've seen some right horror stories though, thankfully the guy I used to export it knows exactly what he's looking for.
