Easiest way would be too mount the pump via rubber insulation and leave connections the same.

Easiest way would be too mount the pump via rubber insulation and leave connections the same. only if the metal pipework isn't directly connected to the pump, i.e needs to insulated from the pump body with a short pieces of rubber/plastic hose. 😉 Personally I'd swop the pump to a negative earth one.

Had a similar issue earlier this year on my Cambridge. Bought a good second hand pump from eBay fitted with an electronic unit, but it turned out to be positive earth and they are not changeable. £80 for a new neg earth electronic unit was the only option.

Thanks all. Think with it being a fuel pump and risk of sparks will buy a neg earth and maybe we'll on the pos earth pump.

Perhaps send off a message to Burlen/SU, quoting the number on your fuel pump and seeing what they say. I know they have electronic points conversions for existing pumps and perhaps that is a way to change polarity.

I've got a new one coming but thanks. Will see if I can sell on the positive earth one as it's only done 500 miles according to the receipt and car mot history with the mileage.
