	Thought I'd start a thread on this I just bought . Genuine 17k mile cav mk2 1.6 it's solid in all the right places the paint has suffered from where is has been laid up for so long! I like the patina on it but all it need to make it clean is a boot bonnet swap and paint the roof. I may do this I may not havnt decided yet. I've stripped the carb and sorted that and a service. It's had 4 tyres and new front brakes. Iam on the look out for some sri alloys and want to lower it as its too high! Few pics here of her.

	Brings back the memories. My Dad got a Cav like yours as a company car in 84 or 85. Same shade of blue, but a 1.3.

	Certainly looks worthy of a decent effort at repainting, even if it's one panel at a time, given the way people can get silly paying $ for low mileage if it looks the part. Faded paints fine but many are scared enough of rust without reminding them. & Congratulations, hopefully deserved.

	Cheers. Yes if I can get another boot and bonnet in the same colour long shot I know but would save me some time. I like the rough look though it's growing on me haha.

	Where are you based? I think I know where there is a good boot lid in blue, I think it's metallic though. I also have quite a few mk2 Cav parts. I'm based near Leeds

	Now this is a bit of me. I love Mk2 Cavs. So I'll be watching/reading this on every update. i remember when i was a nipper my Uncle had a green hatch, and my grandparents next door neighbours had a green saloon.

	Thanks will keep you updated as I get chance to. As to the roof it's only surface rust which will buff out and won't be much to sort.

	Not updated this with being busy so will do now. I've been going through the car bit by bit. Firstly got underneath for a poke about to check for any nasty bits but all good. Carnt believe how clean the inner tubs are on this milage defo shows it. This is the offside rear was a bit dirty with dried mud so wire brushed it all off and only found a bit of surface rust on the spring seat area. So will clean back and treat then gonna clean it all down and waxoyl it. Also checked the sill and all good inner and outer. Floor pans are great as are the boot floor pockets either side. So gonna just clean it and waxoyl the lot.

	Not updated this in a while. Been busy on it made a adapter plate for a weber 32/34 carb to mount on the oe inlet. Got that sorted and rejetted to run so runs alot better now and plus side has manual choke instead of the auto one fitted to the varajet carb! Just need a bolt on filter now to finish off. Also got a set of lowering springs so fitted them and gave the wheels a lick of paint to tidy them up until I can find some alloys. After Before Next is sorting the exhaust few holes to sort and will be adding a new exhaust tip to the oe backbox. Need some gas for welder now. Will update soon.
