Anyone have first hand experience using them and able to recommend a brand to go for.
I just bought a 630i and it has nothing at all in the boot... Or anywhere to put anything 😔

I do indeed! Which shape have you bought? An E63? It would not have come with anything, since this was the time that BMW had Run-Flats from the factory. Later cars from all brands now have Continental kits, like the link below, which do work well. My E46 M3 came with a fancier looking version of this, as M3s didn't have spare wheels either. www.care4car.com/tyre-accessories/continental-compressor-and-tyre-sealant-kit.htmlI doubt these work in the sidewall, but they do work as a quick fix for normal punctures to get you out of trouble. Now, for the tyre repair kits, I've used them on a motorbike and on a car. They do work, and work well. I think however, they may be illegal or in a grey area. I know Tesla recovery folks use these. I do also keep one of these kits in my boot, as per the link below. www.thevisorshop.com/en/Bikeit-Tubeless-Tyre-Repair-Kit/m-20113.aspxOn both, I've put proper puncture repairs in from garages at the earliest opportunity, mainly as I've never had a proper puncture repair fail. Several folks have seen these last a long time however, so the choice is yours there really (y)

ChasR, thank you very much, it is an E63, a grown-up luxury Alfa gtv as I see it. I have used the goo&compressor at the side of the M6 on a 911 when I was a recovery driver, it did work... But I don't like it. I have an old foot pump somewhere, I'll put a small bag together with that, one of those kits and a few basic tools, that should do the job, thanks again.

One of my vehicles is LPG with the tank mounted where the spare normally lives, running about locally I don't bother keeping the spare in the back so I keep a couple of cans of flat fix and a 12v inflator in case of a puncture - I also keep a few screws and superglue to deal with a screw in the tread type puncture.
The only time I've had cause to need them the tyre dropped off the bead so no way was I fixing it kerbside.
Those repair strings I haven't had a good experience with, other people however seem to have no problems, they are classed as a temporary fix to get you to somewhere you can get a proper repair done

Personally I use strings. Never had a problem and never had them replaced. I understand in high pressure tyres in heavy vehicles they can pop out. If you fit them without faffing about you hardly lose any air. And you can fit mutliples in large holes as a get out of trouble patch. We have a BMW with no spare in the family and it is not on runflats anymore. In the boot is a compressor and a can of patching goo you put in via the valve.

The one thing with the goo in the tyres are, tyre fitters can be funny about repairing the tyre. Some refuse outright to repair the tyre, while others charge more, or moan about changing them.
I suppose with the strips, it's one thing you can avoid potentially doing.
But as said, if the tyre has popped off the bead, there are bigger issues to contend with.

We charge a wheel/ Tyre cleaning fee, its awful stuff to deal with and get rid of. Its very very hard to get repair patches to stick to a tyre that's had any sealant in it. However, OKO is amazing stuff and seemingly works miracles on some sizeable holes. I wouldn't suggest buying the quantities we sell but worth a read/ watch. www.bigtyres.co.uk/tyre-sealant
