...of the head gasket, that is.
Midis get so much love - on here, on Facebook, on the road - but I'm struggling to know what to ask for ours.
We are soon moving home and have neither the time nor the spare funds to shower our Midi with any more unconditional love. The head gasket blew on us on her maiden voyage (as a part-finished camper-to-be) and she has sat here with us wondering what to do next for too long.
We've had loads of welding done (before the loud bang, obvs), a partial respray, sound deadening, new engine heatshield, various bits of titivating, and to look at she's alright for her age (126k) - but what we don't know is if the head gasket is all that's gone on the engine - maybe we got lucky (relatively), maybe not. For the right person, investigating that and taking appropriate action makes sense - alas, that person is not us.
What we do know is that these things are as rare as you can get bar extinction, especially if you're after a 2.4TD - and who wouldn't be, they are a joy to drive (if you like character and a fun view)
What do you think she'd fetch, and as she's going on eBay soon, what should we set a starting price at?
We're totally gutted to have to let her go, but sometimes that's the way the cookie crumbles.
