Current set up on the T4 is
Leisure Battery with split charger >fusebox >disel heater, aux lighting and aux USB power.
Looking at a 100w rigid solar panel but I'm stuck /not confident on connecting the electrics.
Can I simply connect the charge controller to the leisure battery with the engine split charger system in situ or will it mess something up?
Any electrical experts/qualified bodgers input would be greatly appreciated. Paying someone to do this work just because of a lack of confidence doesn't feel right

yes you can connect a solar charge controller directly to the existing battery, controller you need depends on how many panels/amps you want to connect.
do you currently have a proper dc-dc charger or just a relay? you can get a renogy unit which does both, i.e a proper dc-dc charger and solar charge controller.

Definite non qualified bodger here... we connected our panel through a controller from Renology to the leisure battery like this.
Panel- RCD type trip thing- controller- big fuse- leisure battery.
Everything runs off the leisure battery as before, including a diesel heater, it works really well.

I should add, the controller works like a smart charger, hopefully keeping the battery in good condition.

Also, can be removed and charged and has a built in sine wave inverter!

Non qualified bodger I said! That looks a clever box of tricks, but would you have to spread the panels out when you want to use them, rather than just whacking them on the roof permanently and letting them do their thing?

Haha sorry!
My logic was that it can be easily charged up via the mains when we're out and about (nicking pubs and friends electric) also, it's less of a permanent fixture in the van when it's in full tat hauling mode. Also, it has a built in inverter so would be more cost effective than buying it all separately.
Looking in to the brand more, it seems to be a amazon sales focused, made in China, company. Something ideally I wouldn't usually go for politics aside.
I'm still in two minds really. Fixed solar i think would still be my preference. Its just the confidence of installing it / not wanting to drill holes in the roof etc.
Thought about those light bar magnets to hold the panel on then it'll just be one hole for the solar wiring
