Hi, here for sale is my sleeper compact. I have decided to sell as I’ve had it for 4 years now and probably done about 1500 miles. I just don’t really have the time to use it that often, other than the occasional sunday blast due to work/life etc getting in the way.
Here is the original build thread I started in 2019 -
forum.retro-rides.org/thread/208293/e36-compact-24v-sleeper
It started life as 316i automatic and the shell has done around 39k miles and the engine is on 110k.
I am only the second owner.
Please don’t confuse this with your usual slammed on £180 coilovers, welded diff abused compact.
The spec is as follows:
M52b28 (2.8 24v)
K&N panel filter
M50 manifold
Big bore throttle body
Endtuning mapped ecu with raised rev limiter to 7200rpm
B2D short shifter
M3 Organic Sachs clutch
5.4kg lightweight M3 flywheel
Poly engine and gearbox mounts
Bilstein B12 pro kit with Eibach springs(for a euro spec 323ti so it has the correct spring rates for a 6 cylinder compact)
Z3 strut top reinforcement plates
Larger Hella radiator for aircon equipped cars
Metal impeller water pump
80 degree thermostat
3:38 ratio diff
E34 steels (7jx15) with factory trims
Brembo Max 286mm front discs
Ferodo DS2500 pads
Brembo rear shoes
328i 25mm front antirollbar
318ti 14mm rear antirollbar
Ulter sport rear silencer
328 cat section with 2-1 reducer
New tyres all round (Toyo T1r in the fronts, generic cheapies on the rear)
Only ever run on 98 or 99 Ron petrol, none of that E10 nastiness!

Plate stays with the car.
There isn’t much paperwork other than the V5 in my name as being honest, I’m rubbish at ordering parts and forgetting to take the receipt/invoices out before I throw the packaging away!
It was in my garage for a couple years till recently and I had to fit a new cam sensor and oxygen sensor when I brought it out.
It has a few bits to mention,
The headlining was redone in a rush and looks a bit amateurish because, well I’d never done one before but it’s better than the sagging one it had.
The carpet has been cut by the transmission tunnel as I did at one point have a bucket seat in it, and because I’m fat had to have an XXL wide one which required “modifications “ to the carpet to fit. Doesn’t really notice.
Due to the lightweight flywheel and solid engine and gearbox mounts, it is quite vibratey inside. It’s not a quiet relaxing drive but it also means that there’s very little drivetrain slack and it has instant pull in any gear.
Overall it’s a quick, very fun sleeper that has some “proper” bits on it. Also, if the full price is met I will throw in some brand new H&R anti rollbars which were around £350 alone
Located Sheerness, Kent
Cheers
Tom.
