Oh boy. Story was, I was planning to cut the amount of cars I had down! Made a mistake by saying on a another forum I'd quite like to own a Ledbury/Parkway/T.E.T Maestro someday. Not thinking anything of it, I was sent a screenshot of one for sale on FB. Dropped the seller a message, not thinking it would come to much. In fact it was a daft idea to even contact the guy. I had the car dropped off on Monday. Needs tidied up in places and odd jobs done. But it is MOT'd and once I get some deets sorted I'll have it on the road. Thinking about getting some PCD adapters with some nice looking steel wheels, car is already lowered so should look good. No plans to go nuts with it. If anyone who hasn't heard of these or wondering why it's on a T plate. I suggest this website, details the history about them. maestro-special.tripod.com/rhistory.html

These always look good on Triumph Tr7 steel wheels and no need to change the PCD.

I'll have ganders at those. Had the car outside last night. Will need to get some daylight ones. Seems to be a perfectly acceptable car. Just does car. Looks easy to work on too (famous last words!). There is jobs that will need done and those wheel arches need looking at too. Boy are they gonna be fun to do! Was given a pair of front wings to help repair them. These wings are for a full plastic bumper. I need steel bumper ones that go all way to the valance. They also look too good to cut up too. Might hold out for another pair to section up. I'll leave them be for now.

Time I updated this car too. When I got the car, the last owner had to make a lower rad pipe. The original one had rusted badly, though it would do as a template. Got some bends and pipe off the Bay. Then set about making one. Turned out alright me thinks? Needed a joiner piece. So I reused a bit from the made up pipe. Was thick walled stuff. So couldn't roll a bead in to help hold the pipe on. Hauld the bus! I had the welder out anyway! I'll make a bead! Smoothed out the welds afterwards. Once fitted and used a lower rad hose from my pile of random rad hoses, this was the result. Much neater. Spent a good five minutes admiring it!

After that I kept working through the cooling system. Heater had been bypassed. So dug into the heater box and took the the matrix out. Oh heck! that's no good! No no no, will not do! Found a company on eBay who makes a matrix. Looks sturdy. Once installed and filled with coolant, I discovered another common Maestro issue. The matrix pipes are made from steel too and rot out. Quick session with the welder and some epoxy saw it useable again. Only repaired them as replacements weren't available at the time. I got another set that were rusty too, I'll repair them too for a spare. Didn't take any photos of that job as I was getting a bit bored of chasing leaks! Instead, here is a couple of pics of the car with a pals LDV Convoy that he spent a "few" months welding up.

Oh my! I've had this thing a year now! Car broke down on me one night back in January. The fuel pump was no longer pumping. Fixed that and then left it sat, I was quite deep into my Corsa project. Now I was able to get back to working on it. I ripped off the mishmash of VAG based coilover shocks. Front locking collars were seized and mangled. Lower rear damper bolt was stuck. I chose to chop the shock instead as they were going in the bin! Found someone breaking a few Maestros. Bought all four complete suspension units. Tracked down new dampers and had a bit of fun trying to find the rubber top mount bush. MK1 Golf, MK1/MK2 Polo used something close. Added an M14 washer and this meant I could mount them properly. Some Polo 6N2 top mounts were just rammed in with the coilovers. Not often someone goes back to stock! I think it looks better! The steering wheel was proppa minging! Much better condition one purchased. Doesn't seem much of an update and took a while to find parts as these cars are surprisingly difficult to find certain bits for. However, I'm happy that I can use the car again.
