I thought it was about time I posted about my latest project considering I've had her a while now.
Anyway she is a 1995 4.6HSE converted to LPG she also has a straight pipe in place of her centre silencer to make the most of the V8 rumble.
When I first got her she was in a bit of a state but structurally sound. She would boil over within 5 mins of starting from cold so was delivered on a trailer. That was obviously the first thing to sort so I treated her to a new radiator, thermostat, waterpump and coolant pipes and now we have no more overheating issues even yesterday when she was towing nearly 3 tonnes!
Obviously the next thing was to get her road legal which didn't take much, just some brake lines. I have also fitted a new accumulator sphere for the ABS pump new pads all round and a set of front air springs.
After getting her working now its time to get her looking a bit better.
2 90s barges ready for a show
Rusty bootlid replaced with a second hand one I sourced
I had a go at retrimming the saggy headlining myself. I will have to do it again as although it looked good to start with it's started sagging again so I need a stronger contact adhesive.
We had a major issue when I managed to leave a window open in a thunderstorm. The result was the seat got soaked and starting dripping directly onto the BECM. That shorted out at 3am and woke me up with the car, blowing its horn, flashing it's lights and wipers and windows going crazy. I rushed outside in my dressing gown and disconnected the battery. Just in the nick of time too considering how burnt the circuit board was!
Now that the BECM has been cloned and the car is working again I decided it was high time I try doing something about the paintwork. I love the colour and it is very unusual as the car was only available in caprice for one year.
burnt circuit board.
Sanded back
In primer
The end of play today. Base coat done on the bonnet just needs flatting and laquer applied tomorrow.
Next steps repair the warped dashboard, more paintwork and fit a replacement bumper I have sourced for it. Before I do that though she is going on 600 mile round trip to the Isle of Wight next week just in case anyone feels the need to buy shares in BP.
