I have just bought a CLARKE 3HP SINGLE PHASE 2-POLE MOTOR (230V) Product Code 010210465 . but as it came with no wiring instructions so i am a little stuck . I have connected the yellow/green to the motor body as indicated with the earth symbol with securing screw provided, and the blue cable to the cut out switch as per my old motor set up but not sure which terminal to connect the brown also i need it to run anti-clockwise. Any help would be much appreciated.

To be honest best bet is to do some googling and watch a few youtube videos and teach yourself how it works. It's not that complicated but there's different types of single phase motor so first thing to identify what you've got. It looks like it will be a start/run style motor with two capacitors and a centrifugal switch?

The links are set for it to run counter clockwise.
Looks like all you need to do is connect live to one of the linked terminals and nutural to the other. Everything else is done for you by the look of it.

I have attached the Nutural to the cut out switch which follows to the terminal where the yellow is. its a case of where the live (brown) goes the same or the adjacent link?

It won't matter, either neutral or live will work.

It will work either way but convention dictates that you should always break the live not the neutral (unless breaking both at the same time) so that the point where power is isolated is the last place that voltage is present.

Indeed you should always switch the live I forgot there was a thermal trip in the circuit
