What about a Wise card? Previously known as TransferWise. I have one and keep an eye on the GBP-CAD exchange rates, when they're good I transfer a few quid. Over the year between trips it adds up to a helathy amount that covers all our spending instead of all at once just before we fly out.

Over the year between trips it adds up to a helathy amount that covers all our spending instead of all at once just before we fly out. I have just done the wallet yesterday. It seems a good thing, no costs and you get a given days rate. For me, the three legged dance to try maximise exchange currently is a bit of a hassle, so I rely on the balance of swings and roundabouts. Martin, who travelled with me in 2015 is much better at watching the nuances of currency fluctuations and responding. In 2015 we traded at $1.65 for £1.00 that was a decent exchange, and I bought all the new parts for the C10 at the time. |

Alternately, there will hopefully be other shows too.

Dennis just sent this…… 40’C when I get there on Friday. Add in some humidity, and it seems I will be flying in shorts and flip flops. I know how the heat hits you in the face as you step out of the buildings.  Luckily even the workshop has air conditioning And beer. |

I hated the extreme heat in SA, the only time I like the heat was the 13 months I lived in Namibia and Angola on military service, because we were young, dumb and…… loved to walk around like Rambo. No, you don’t get used to the heat, you learn to put up with it. |

Well, had my tertial (4 monthly) performance review with the boss at 2.00pm sitting in a store room, as I could not get an office, due to an extended patient telephone consultation in the office I was going to use. Took me about 5 hrs to research and create the document. Boss was done in 10 minutes and told me to have a good break. I will certainly be having a good break, being with my American family. Came home later, via the barbers, shorter hair for 40’C or 103’F just makes sense, along with gallons of Mountain Dew. Also had some interest in the S10 from Devon, to be used as a shop truck for an American car restorer. As they say about the fat lady…… deal ain’t done till I hear Kerrchinggg!!! And he walks off with a V5c Green slip. Came home and moved cars and van about, ate some Balti Mix and poured myself some courage. Working from home tomorrow, kettle is on.  S10 Out there…….  Courage.  Switching to beer (NO BUD LIGHT OR RELATED PRODUCTS) and Fireball when I make landfall in Missouri. Already getting excited. Suddenly |

I am sure the heat will kill me, but hey….. chicken wings. Last night I went to bed and laying down to read a bit, I was joined by Mr Dickhead himself. A rare thing for him to come to bed for a cuddle, let alone settling. Funny how they know.  This morning, 5.45 I woke to check messages and guess who was curled up, asleep next to me…… He woke when I moved to take the pic.  He may be missing me, or missing when I get back. Certainly the down side of every road trip. |
