DQ is our go to place for ice cream treats.
Waffle House used to be open 24 hours a day all year long. They did not have locks on the doors. That may have changed these days.
Have a safe trip home, we have sure enjoyed tagging along.
I've even tried to post more so you would know I'm still here.

SO……. PECULIAR Anyone know what happens there? Yes, lots of stuff, but some may have a better idea. We were both up early, we headed out after saying our goodbyes to the hostess and her cool dog.  Out onto the road….. loads of beauty in Kansas.   Fuel stop…. No food, restaurant or breakfast.  This would turn into an ongoing theme till we found an iHop somewhere. It seems there just is not any workers/labour to be hired, people do not want to work. Mile after mile and every establishment we saw the same thing, fast food places, either shut or shut down. Not an ideal situation for the economy.    Breakfast at last, 9.30    And into Missouri we went.  Until we hit Peculiar at 10.30 An hour there too.

Travel safe boet and make sure your treasure bag is well secured  It's wierd but I am not only envious of your trips there, but it honestly brings me joy seeing what it does and means for you. George will be waiting and expecting to be lathered with treats and affection. I could never imagine leaving my boy for 3 weeks!   |

ROLLING INTO PECULIAR…….I noticed a change in Dennis. This, was one of the main reasons for him going on this short 800 mile two day trip. Not believing the SATNAV which wanted to take us onto a small lane that hugged the motorway the moment we came off the junction, he over rode it, only to be pulled off the next left, then, following the directions, we got to our destination. 10.30am.  So Remember the 34 Ford we fetched up in Kansas, without the cash to pay for it….?  After he finishes the Chevelle, the 34 will be treated to all sorts of clever V8 Hotrod associated goodies while Dennis builds it for himself. He had a good black,34 five window years ago, that he sold, and always regretted. Walking into Pete and Jakes, you are blown away by the sheer hotrod history in there. Movie cars, including “The California Kid” which was always Dennis’ dream car. Random pics.          Original CALIFORNIA KID.       Getting ready to head out to a show.    We spent an hour there, Dennis getting really good advice on how to go about building his car. Then back on the road, straight home. Saw a nice service truck.    That kinda wrapped up Tuesday. Wednesday I headed out again up to Fayetteville in Arkansas to see Clem at Tubatrucks.com More good times.

So uneventful trip home. Toms carvings keeping an eye on us.  Back home I hung up my super special sign, sent to me by Mark in Florida. Getting carried as hand baggage due to being spevial and fragile.  Had a couple of lite beers in the shop with Dennis then took the golf kart and went for a ride in the hope to get laid. Did see this awesome dually again.   WEDNESDAY MORNING Out of the house by 04.45am. Checked routes and entered the truck and mobile phone route finders. I like WAZE as it is so accurate and up to the minute. Mileage at the off.  2.5 hrs to first pee, leg strech and service station shop coffee.  And I saw a lot of these throughout Missouri and other states. The changing face of America is what I guess.   Long day so I did not stop again, except for fuel and one more pee. Bag of beef jerky, Tropical Skittles and Mountain Dew after the coffee kept me going.  I am currently uploading at St Louis Airport and it is dead slow. May have to wait till I get back home. |

grizz thank you very much for allowing us all on your road trip holiday around the States. It is very much appreciated, and I haven't commented much due to either being busy or just in awe at the laid back way of living it seems to be out there. Guess that having only been as far as Le Man from Kent has something to do with the wonderment of America. And the hotrod place looks like it could be a black hole for many hours wasted away without realising 😁

I’ll also add that the words are always posting; I know I’m guilty of throwing up a like rather than a post but in my defence I’m in the wilds of Norfolk at the moment and the internet is varying between rubbish and not worth even trying 😂.
Looking forward to catching up properly when I get home though I’ll keep my opinion on your current employer to myself as the swear filter may struggle to cope if I posted what I’m thinking 😡

Thanks for bringing us along for the ride again Grizz, I have no interest in Baseball but I’d love the opportunity to go to a game just for the atmosphere and that St Louis Arch looks immense, really hope your job situation improves quickly and please keep us updated, thanks again and have a safe trip back to Blighty.

Back at home. Unpacked, laundry done, hung out. George is attached to my heel, non stop complaining about getting left behind. Treasures this year centred around stuff I bought or was gifted for the Astro van. Will report on that in the thread. My lawn is dead after the heatwave here, and nobody to water it at all. Slept about 2.5 or maybe 3 hours max. Dinner at Sallys, then home to try get some rest, planes are not much good for resting. George when I got in, and then slept with me…..   My lawn dead 😢  |
