Thoughts and info please. The on going issues with the 2L petrol Beetle are leading me to believe the cat may have collapsed.
I'm still to do the coil pack which I've purchased, just prepairing for that to not sort the issue.
I'm no way in the market for paying £500 for a re-map on a car that cost £650.

Re-map with a de-cat is it needed? Rich

Add a ‘CEL defeater’ or lambda sensor spacer (£5) to the downstream O2 sensor. It spaces the sensor out of the exhaust gas flow for this exact situation. And be prepared to find a VERY ‘friendly’ MOT tester. 😂

Re-mqps are around half that.

ECU will be designed to read along with the restriction of the cat in place. Without it and not alternating the mapping could lead to either over fuelling or not enough fuel. Potentially kill the MPG's, I guess its whether you car enough if the car is only worth £650.

I'd knock the brick out and give it a try, cat's are not particalurly restrictive on a standard car in normal use (unlike DPF's), if it has pre and post cat sensors it will put a MIL on though.
