	Anyone who has followed the randomness of my car likes and dislikes will not be surprised at my questions that follow. Some advice and knowledge needed here. 1991 Saab 900 Auto. Engine block skimmed to an inch of its life. SOOOOOOO……. Question to the collective: Have any of you seen, heard of, read about or BUILT one of these with different motorvation ?? Engine swaps to something reasonably silly but reliable. I am quite happy to stay with 4 cylinders, turbo etc not important. Older technology with as little as possible electrics, computers ans similar issues to bridge is ideal. If you recognise the car from elsewhere, please keep it to yourself for now. Reminds me of Josephs Coat of Many Colours. And paint potential after Mercdan68 has waved a wand.

	Comment from elsewhere. 900's have a pretty unique engine layout with the clutch in the front, doubt there is anything that will bolt up, you'd at least have to replace the transaxle as well, a huge project for a tired car.

	brother had a 900 turbo fun to drive felt like a tank as in safe as houses raced a bmw325i up the A1 was flat out and looking at the dash the speedo , rpm, turbo boost needles were all to the right then glanced at the fuel gauge and watched it drop at an alarming rate like a second hand on a watch with not a lot left in the tank i had pull over :-(

	We had a classic 900 turbo automatic. Loved it but yes you can watch the fuel gauge go down as you drive. The manuals are better. Still great cars, especially the turbos, and better value than the Fords of the same era. We are currently restoring one. I wouldn't do another though as the parts are getting too hard to find. Next car will have to be something like a Beetle, where a new set of locks costs £25 or something and arrives in the post next day.
