Playing it safe here. It's an 1999 but thought it'd be better to post about it in the Post-2000's area. Anyway, wanted something RWD, fun to drive but could be used just about everyday. So I bought this. With this in it. Wanted an RS200 model and bought this via an importer who got it shipped here from Japan. Wheels looked rubbish and wasn't keen on the Lexus grille. However it appeared to be well looked after and parts can be changed. Like so. Set of 18 inch XT7 Work Emotion wheels and a bargain IS200 Sport/TRD grille made a fair difference. Not fussed about getting the full TRD kit either. I'll do another post later with the other upgrades I've done.

Haha it does. I first properly came across them on GT4. Probably where the idea for getting one came from. Ah, yes! More pictures. Sorted out the ride height. Got a cracking deal on some BC's. I like low, but still driveable. These things handle great stock, the suspension change made it even better. Did think it needed something on the rear . Wanted something like a spoiler on there. Not your usual TRD or Sport jobs. Do like finding rarer OE gear too. So I bought off FB marketplace a spoiler from a Qualitat JDM edition car. It's a nice subtle one. This will be painted and fitted when the car goes into paint. The bonnet and roof are badly peeled from the sun in Japan. Just to please my inner JDM fanboi, I chucked a few slap stickers on too.

Cracking car and very popular in Ireland. Chassis, engine, build quality - they have a lot going for them.

Are these the 3 litre? I had the is200 and thought it was lovely until I smashed it into a kerb whilst messing about on icy roads.

These are the fifth gen 3SGE BEAMS.
So a 2 litre four banger. Same basic engine as the MR2's and Celicas. Oddly the last version of the beams was the only RWD one too. Sound bloody lovely on full chat.
You might be thinking of the IS300? That was an N/A 2JZ in those.
They are indeed great cars. Yeah, they have their faults, but as WoofWoof said they have a lot going for them. Cheaper than an S chassis too lol.

Never seen one of these before, nice looking car,
Totally agree about the wheels, they look far better,
I think all of the "mods" you've done so far really suit the car and the overall look is developing well, (apart from the stickers but, your car your rules,)
Looking forward to seeing future updates, bookmarked,
Nigel

I've been more a fan of OE plus style. Specially if I can use accessories that were available at the time. I will look at tidying up the scruffy bits of the car now as I'm happy with it's looks now. Didn't need much to make it look better, they look weird without a front splitter to me. Yeah did think some folk won't be keen on the stickers, which is a fair shout. I just see them as an non-permanent thing.

Not much has happened with the car. Just been using it. Took a run up to the north of Scotland. Car handled it fine, well it should really. Cruised the dual carriageways fine while being fun on the A roads. Really rate the BC Racing coilovers, nearly forgot it was fitted with them. Got a kinda artsy shot of the car. Looking at doing the clutch at some point too, the release bearing is getting a little grumpy. Thinking while the 'box is off, could get a lightened flywheel too. Best I get saving up then lol.

Problem owning one of those here in Ireland is the constant tugging by Gardi (Irish police) cos of the lappers in replicas. Getting difficult to own a cool car here now. Liking the Altezza.

Thanks.
That's a shame. But understand why, It's the reason why I've shied away from making it look like the others you see. Rather not have that kind of attention.
