Early example of a Gypsy Bow Top wagon, with the timber and iron banded cart wheels, and horse draw bars.
These are very few and far between, and is a genuine early style one, the later ones never looked anywhere near as nice as this style in my opinion.
Its pretty much all complete in terms of wood work, iron work and the cart itself.
There is no canvas top left, but the hoops are here and the side rails, and the glazed front door.
All the mechanism works and all the horse drawbars and chains are here with it which is a rare find alone.
The ash cart has seen better days, there is a lot of bad wood from where its been out in all weather.
My plan was to take it apart and rebuild the whole thing in fresh timber, using the old as templates and then using all the original iron etc.
Wheels have some rot in them so I was going to remake as new but someone could probable save these wheels or at least 2 or 3 of them.
I have had this in the barn for years now, would love to keep as I had intended to complete the wagon for myself to keep, but its still gathering dust and would love to see someone with time to restore this to its former glory.
Also a nice set of free standing wrought iron steps/ stair case included.
Photos are not great but its a full restoration project.
Located Hertfordshire.
Thanks, Matt
