I’ve never seen another, it’s for tightening the metal cable ties that you can put around CV boots. I bought a modern equivalent on eBay but it doesn’t have the little “prong” on that this has which bends the tab down over the ball bearing. So the boot came loose again on the next drive out. No marks on it, this one belongs to a mate and came from a random Facebook marketplace ad.

Guessing you'll be popping round to your mates every time you change a CV boot then? One of those tools that's really good for a rarely done job.

I think it‘s a Ligarex tool. Ligarex straps were used on older French cars for CV boots and coolant hoses
