Limited edition Italian Job features; Black bonnet stripes, white grille with chrome surround, body colour door mirrors, white alloy wheels, auxiliary driving lamps, tinted glass, opening rear quarters, unique decal scheme and bonnet badge, Italian flag sewn into from seats, Italian flag steering wheel badge. Accessories; Gemini Category 1 alarm system, fake gold bars!
EXTERIOR
This limited-edition Italian Job is one of just 1,000 UK cars produced with a further 750 for the Italian market. Available in just four colours to mirror those in the Union Jack and Italian Tricolore Flag, these were Flame Red, White Diamond, British Racing Green and Electric Blue. Of the UK cars, 250 were believed to be made in each colour with this example being in Electric Blue, (Code JSA). Unique coachwork recalls the models famous racing and rallying pedigree and fantastic originality and ultra-low mileage will please purists and collectors. The paintwork and body are in simply outstanding condition and free from any of the normal Mini rust issues. The underside, seams, sills and valances are perfectly intact with only the factory finish and underside protection wax visible. The supplying dealer number plates remain fitted. Preserved just as the Limited-Edition design intended and boasting amazingly low mileage, this is a highly collectable Mini.
INTERIOR
Immaculately tailored to the last detail with unique seat trim in black twill, (code PMA), wearing the sewn-in Italian flag badge. All the black vinyl trimmed door and quarter casings with the red Mylar strip are spotlessly clean along with the unworn black carpet, facia and rear parcel shelf. The 3-spoke soft feel steering wheel with the unique badge reminds the driver of the limited production run while glancing down at all the operational gauges. The original Phillips R552 radio cassette operates fully with perfect display and even still has the plastic security cover! A stylish and fun environment exactly how the manufacturer intended.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This car is in excellent mechanical order having covered such few careful miles. The engine is the 4-cylinder transverse OHV 1275cc unit which pulls strongly. With 50bhp, progress is nippy and running costs minuscule, thanks to excellent parts availability and economy. The unaltered engine bay is spotless and retains all factory plates and labels as well as the fragile and often perished paper stickers. The 4-speed all synchromesh gearbox with a diaphragm spring clutch is precise and changes gear effortlessly. If you have driven a mini before you will know it is pure fun and this example is no exception!
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Immaculate 12” white Minilite alloy wheels unique to the Italian Job are shod in matching premium brand Yokohama 165/60 R12 tyres with ample tread. The original Pirelli tyre is fitted to the spare which sits in the boot alongside the jack still in its shiny black plastic cover. The boot mounted battery has the correct fragile cover and retaining strap. The servo assisted dual line hydraulic brakes pull the car up quickly. Very responsive handling and manoeuvrability.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Mill Garages of Tyne & Wear on the 2nd August 1993, this exceptional example has covered just 9,080 miles from new and its condition and originality makes it worthy of any fine classic car collection. The grey A5 Mini folder contains business cards from staff members as well as all handbooks and the service book as well as both sets of keys. A separate large file is neatly organised with invoices and MOT certificates and even an original Mini Italian Job sales brochure. The previous owner took part in the famous London to Brighton run as well as many club events where he even made replica gold bars to place in the boot in recognition of course to the iconic film, The Italian Job.
MOT June 2024, HPI Clear.
