Excellent stuff! Those Revo's look great under there. Will look even better with the preface front end bits on it, but you will also need wings, slam panel and bumper mounts. I have some previous with red Micras and Revolution's :-)

That is one hell of a transformation, the tempest name actually looks fitting now you have finished with it! haha i just googled what tempest means “a violent windy storm” theres nothing violent about this yoke, not with 54hp 😂

Nice first car, K11s are excellent. I got my daughter one as her first car. The rot spots to look out for are the crossmember underneath the radiator and the back end of the sills. ive got a ramp and i had a look around it and its almost entirely rust free, lots of grass under there though i think the last owner had a bit of fun in a field before he sold it to me.

Great first car to start tinkering with! Very easy to work on. Thanks for starting a thread too - these little cars are all getting a old now and will be a proper classic in time. A combination of rot, learner drivers and general apathy towards what most see as just a basic shopping car (because they are just that really.. but sooooo cool with it) means the numbers of them out there on the road will continue to drop. Look after this one ! Check if your car has a mechanical speedo cable or if its an electronic speeedo. If its mechanical then I believe you can always swap the plugs out to suit that instrument cluster you have. I'm pretty sure all the wires are the same between models but for an extra 'bip' signal wire on the electroic speedo gauges. You'll possibly have to add a signal wire for the rev counter though - at least this is the case with the JDM marches we have here. See my k11 thread. ill take a look thanks mate

To be honest I never liked these cars. However my sons girlfriend wanted one for her first car and they grow on you really fast. Jobs so far have been simple to do and she absolutely loves the thing.i got her a parcel shelf with speakers in and it turns out the wiring is already in the car for it despite hers being what I can only assume is the lowest spec variant there is. I currently have a rear bumper indoors for it, how hard is that to replace?. Love the way this car sits lowered, makes hers look like a gasser in comparison 🤣😂. Will be following this thread, will see if I can get her onto this page too. looking forward to updates. Nice work so far, car looks great 👍 honestly the only thing holding the bumper on is a few screws and a few bolts, two on each side inside the boot and two on each side at the back of the wheel arch. Where the wiring for the speakers?

I'm not sure, are you on the Micra Mafia page on Facebook, quite a few have recently done it on there so it's worth an ask.

Of you pull the carpet back on the drivers side near the rear light cluster it will be coiled up with some tape on it stuck to some other loom. It already has a plug on the end that plugs straight into the parcel shelf with speakers in.

I have some previous with red Micras and Revolution's :-) That looks ace, I love revos. I can't ever get onboard with the dangly oil line look though, it just looks amateur. IMO, of course.

Nice work on this. Hope you can get insurance with the mods without having to sell a kidney well I'm trying not to think about it as I'm terrified i wont lie, ive got my test in two weeks and my plan is to insure the car with nothing declared and then ring em up to declare the mods a day or two after, sure whatever fee they want to charge me will be cheaper than the 3 grand quotes ive been getting at the moment. Seems the best option.

Update! Not rly, well sort of, basically I'm refraining from buying anything spendy until ive passed my test now because the insurance is gonna absolutely ruin my bank account. Took the racing bean down the lanes last night and the exhaust has become somewhat of a plough for gravel, apologies to the volvo behind me. Also despite my promises of saving money for insurance i nearly bought another k11 yesterday. Was the perfect spec other than the fact it didnt have a sunroof and was only up for £500. Sold within an hour of being up on bookface. I was gutted but maybe its for the best financially. I did however manage to score an original 90s vodafone nissan motorsport btcc window sticker so that’ll have to be slapped on along with my original 1996 oasis Knebworth sticker (if you know you know). Its been a bit of a slow burn this project but i suppose I’ve done alright for an a-level student working 13 hours a week. Hopefully in the coming months ill be out of school and can get a bit more money together to make a bit more progress. Also, has anyone had experience with declaring mods immediately after insuring a car at 17?

Best to make any changes you do all at once, insurers love to try and charge admin fees every time you make a change, regardless of any differences to the underlying premium.
At the risk of sounding really old and boring - try not to look too much at other cars and really get to know the one you have for now instead. When you pass your test drive it loads and get to know it well enough so you can make entirely informed decisions about what you want to mod! Once you've bought and fit something, even if you take it off again three miles later you're not getting much of your money back.
I drove like a complete tw** and still somehow passed my test... then the real learning begins.

I drove like a complete tw** and still somehow passed my test... then the real learning begins. doing it all at once sounds like a smart idea, didnt think about that. And with regards to the mods themselves I'm not going to go crazy with it. Ill mainly stick to visual stuff and maybe chuck a 1300 in it but nothing crazy, i want to make the most of the car for what it is and make it better rather than making it different if that makes sense. Itll never be a show car or a track monster but thats not what I'm aiming for. It needs to be versatile and dependable, the moment i have to buy a “daily” or start babying it then i know things have gotten out of hand. I'm sure nissan spent a lot of money creating the k11 and I'm sure they're designers are a lot smarter than me. Theres only so many things i can do to actually improve it.

That looks very nice subtle and not "look at me look what I had for Christmas" the reverloutions in black make the biggest difference.
