Something I'm investigating is renting out a car transporter truck. It would come with insurance, I've been getting quotes to do this. Truck would be around £140 a day to hire so probably not worth it for local journeys but if you were going 100+ miles it could really make sense.  I am testing the water, let me know if you think it might be something you would be interested in. |

I can see that being of interest. I've used these guys who are not far from you (Horsham) a ton of times, and our truck still isn't finished so there's always the chance I'll need something again.. They have some big trucks too, which was handy when I needed to collect the Continental  what's the payload of yours? |

Thanks. it would be nicer if it got cheaper for more days. I hired one for 1 day from a company that delivered and collected the truck, which was amazing, sadly they are no longer doing transporters.

I have hired one a few times from a small setup in Nottinghamshire who ran 3 Renault Masters. He was £100 per day including up to 250 miles. Was extra per mile if you exceeded that. Although I was naive at the time and the chap offered no guidance on weights, I had my ol F100 on the back of it from Andover to Derby  . Not clever but also the first time hiring one!  |

I’ve used the people in Horsham 4/5 times it used to be very good but used it last week and the truck was a bit of a mess lights not working few warning lights on, but it did the job. Would be intrested

I also used the Horsham place recently, sketchy as hell. Truck (2011 Master with 260,000 miles) had STOP lamp on dash and warning message about fuel injector problem , gearbox was whining so loudly I tried to drown it out with the radio... but radio didn't work, the front had fallen off it. Tail lamp and screenwash not working, mirrors not adjusting, I don't even think it had a spare wheel. It also took two weeks of constant polite asking for them to return my deposit.

I first used the Horsham place back in 2018 it seems, on arrival was told it'd had been filled with petrol but topping up with diesel should be fine... The M23 J11 northbound was subsequently closed by two fire engines  I also used them at the beginning of this year, and it sounds as though I had the same truck datman. The thoroughly unimpressed better half riding shotgun insisted I let them know the faults, to which I was told it was fine as MOTd a couple of days earlier. It had, sketchy indeed! |
