I’ve always thought these things look bad ass. I guess it’s the screens more than anything & particularly those old mk2 Transits with the split screen. I always thought they’d be a great start to a build, but back in the day, you heard stories that they didn’t sell them, they had to be dismantled so no one could see how they put them together? Not sure if that’s true or folklore. Any how anyone ever seen anything built on them, done one etc. Here’s a few

The Mk3 Transit ones always look like something out of a dystopian sci-fi TV show.

Well I had one like in your first picture, except it was white. Didn't have the split screen, but it had all the trimmings otherwise. Was an absolute beast of a van. Roof escape hatch, hefty locks and armour (inside and out). Battery behind driver in bespoke box (never did find out why).
Like a fool, I swapped it for an XR4i. As you do.

Not quite on point, but read the post and remembered I had one of these as a kid I actually used to fix these things (real ones that is😀) I worked for Ryder trucks & we got the repair contract for all the group 4 ‘con carriers’. Horrible things they were & believe it or not, we all had to go for jabs every year for hepatitis & Lord knows what, coz the cons just used to p1ss in the little cells which had drain holes in the floors so it was basically spread all over the underside of the vehicle. The little cells had snap shut locks on them as well, so you were paranoid about working inside them in case the door slammed behind you 🤦🏼♂️

Styling wise they always look cool, but they bodies get properly hacked about, and once the extra weight of the conversion gets factored in I suspect they'd be a super sketchy slammed. Having owned a couple of ARV spec Volvos practical stuff like opening windows at car parks and toll booths starts to get very wearing😳

I realise that the thread is security vans for transporting money or valuables, but could you indulge, security, vans, for peace keeping? Shorland armored car, a landrover on steroid named via amalgamation of short brothers and harland who built it. It has a peculiar/personal cross over for me, combining both landrovers and my grandad who worked for short brothers
