Hmmmm. How do these compare (strength-wise) to the Atlas? And is there a similar array of diffs and shafts available?

Hmmmm. How do these compare (strength-wise) to the Atlas? And is there a similar array of diffs and shafts available? Strength wise out the box a 8” or 9” bats an atlas out the park I’d say . There’s no need to strength the casing like you would do on and atlas no rally tax on parts either . and the shafts are strong but there’s tonnes of options to get diff shafts (strange engineering, hauser racing to name a few ) parts are available from the us pretty easily and most usual suppliers from the uk too . hope that helps ?

HARDCORE that was a mustang 2 axle. Only 8” or 9” that comes in that bolt pattern. It seems it might have been narrowed though, I thought they were 56.5” wide. The casings/shafts/brakes come up cheap cos no one really wants them as they’re different to a ‘normal’ 8”. Diff is same as all others, although 28 spline as all 9” are. It would be good for up to 300hp, and they’re significantly lighter than a 9” so good for smaller cars.

IIRC add the correct perches and they fit under a Mk3 capri without issue, or was that Mustang2? Dez, Not so popular because they are 4stud?, and like you say are good axles, and better in my opinion because they are front loaders unlike the 2.8 axle, Did Rally Design not sell these from Curries to fit under a Mk2 escort?

Ian yeah it’s cos they’re a ‘non-American’ pcd. And the brakes are unique to mustang 2, they’re only 9” diameter and have a unique offset/width. If it fits what you need as stock then they’re a good choice, but as soon as you want to change any of it you’re better starting with a different axle.

Thanks Gents!
Will need something strong (& narrow) at some point. No real rush but don't want to have to remortgage to buy an Atlas.
