Genuine Mk1 RS Mexico 1975.
The shell has been restored on a rotisserie jig, so taken back to metal, epoxy primed, then primered and painted in its original colour, Olympic blue.
I have a full set of Mexico graphics/ decals as per the original Mexico's had, in white, these are ready to fit, although some people may prefer the car without the graphics...
Underside and floors have been sealed and stone guarded for future protection- all finished in body colour.
Shell is rolling, and mobile for transport. The suspension has been 'mocked up' just for transport purposes.
New leaf springs, bushes, shackles, 1" lowering blocks, U-bolts and hardware to the rear. To the front a set of complete used struts are fitted (I was going to replace these for new, to match the back end), and steering rack and cross member are loosely in place.
The shell is currently rolling on a set of genuine Mk2 RS2000 alloys, these have been fully refurbished, and diamond cut, with brand new centre caps, wheel nuts and tyres all round. Complete set of 5 wheels.
All glass present and all fitted in place with new rubbers and seals all round.
Correct 711 block Crossflow engine present, (Believed to be the original), complete with gearbox.
The car is probably around 95% complete, with no front seats or carpets, probably a few smaller items missing or need replacing etc too.
Interior is not a problem though, rather than using the old stuff, I had intentions of buying a complete kit, readily available, with correct roll-top seats, rear seats, dash pad, carpets, headlining, door cards etc.
Everything in the photos is included; all the rare RS parts are there;
- 6-Dial clocks
- Switch panel
- Twin-chock Webber carb
- Full set of RS 5.5j Mexico alloy wheels, matching 1975 year stamped set. Very rare to find.
- Wiring loom
- Four branch manifold
The parts list is endless, so will let the photos do the talking.
Matching numbers; Genuine original shell, VIN tag, AVO plate/ Build tag, V5 logbook and chassis stamp all correct.
The logbook is the old style, so the DVLA will want photos of the finished car before the change the keeper (V5 and DVLA paperwork all here for buyer). This is common with the RS models and easy to do, I have had to do it for all the RS models I have had in the past, the car has been off the road for 15+ years, but is still recorded live on the DVLA database if you put the reg in.
Will make a cracking example when completed, and a great future investment no doubt.
Obviously this is sold as an on-going restoration project; The car is solid, but has had the usual Ford welding and repairs in the past, the paint is nice but there may be some defects up close, could prob do with a cut and mop polish, there is and may be parts missing, but Ford parts are easily obtainable. This car was not built as a concourse trailer queen, I had intended to finish it and use it, but lack of time and space mean its got to go.
All the parts will be packed away inside the shell for easy transportation.
Delivery can be arranged if required, at buyers expense.
Located Hertfordshire.
Thanks, Matt.
