This was a friends dad's car that I've had a soft spot for ever since he bought it about 3 years ago, I told him if he ever sells then I wanted first refusal and a few weeks ago that call came! After a few weeks it's finally in my possession so I thought I'd better get a thread up!
It will be a slow burner as other financial and time responsibilities mean I can't do as much these days but the idea is to start doing some track days, hill climbs and sprint racing in it. I'm about 20 minutes from curborough so will hopefully get to blast round there fairly regularly.
1st job is to get the windscreen replaced as it has a crack right in the middle of zone A which is holding me back from having a go at an MOT. I chucked a fresh battery on as its been standing since the middle of 2021 and I've ordered the bits to do a fluid and filter service at the weekend.
Then the plan is to put some 15" style 31's on as the 17's currently on it are awful, then bucket seat and some good brake discs and pads and do some track days as is. Early on the agenda is to do a solid flywheel conversion and get rid of the dual mass as well. Then long term I'd like to go down the route of throttle bodies, a good map and an exhaust. The done thing is the m52 swap but I kind of want to keep this guy with the 4 cylinder for better or worse.
Anyway enough waffle, time for some pictures!
Although the boot is a replacement from a 316 it's actually a 318ti with the m44 in it.
Interior is pretty much perfect.
And best of all, no rust! Jacking points, sills, mounts etc are all pretty much immaculate. Don't know if these fair better then coupe's, tourings and sedans but I was shocked at how clean it is underneath for an e36!
