So I have not even heard back from the seller of that pile of scrap and I am looking for the basic parts to complete the initial picture. Frankenhealey may have the answers to hand, as may others. A pair of doors for £20.00 collected sounds fair of course free is best, described thus: 1970 Citroen Diane Pair CITROEN DIANE Car Doors Burgundy With Key Need Clean And Some TLC. And pic included below. Would they fit this cab in the normal run of things? Yup, still in the design on a napkin phase. Dreamland.

A Citroen Dyane is different to a 2CV, BUT, those 'look' like 2CV doors ...

I think you have to resign yourself to the fact that this will require the proper testing after/before build as you will run out of points pretty early on. But, why not just build it to the right standard and settle for a q plate? blackpopracing did it, and it is well documented. The bug bear of glass will not apply as you can fit a later screen if it doesn't have the correct markings and 2CV's were built up until the 90's so a lot of the parts you would need can probably be robbed from a more modern donor snail. Do some research, speak to Kev on the NSRA or RodsnSods site as well as our own Mr Pop and come up with a plan. Think it is doable and more important doable correctly. Have you bought it yet? P.

Just to make it clear. I have never had an issue with or this very British fixation with Q-Registrations. When you go read and research into them, they exist for various reasons, mostly good. And yes Paul Y a solid inspection means you can insure and tax a vehicle in a way you know the roads will be assured of a valid user. A fake/curse word Q-plate is like letting your 7 year old take the family Pitbull to school on ”Show your pet day” (not a great comparison but you get my point)

"I don't think so" BUT get on the FB group 2CV & Friends and ask. On there you will find Simon Sobey who has an Aladdin's Cave of 2CV, Acad, Dyane spares and may be able to help.

2cv has a chassis so how about using that as a platform to mount the mx5 parts to? Or possibly consider a taxi chassis, Possibly go all out, drop the 2cv over a registered lotus7 7 clone Ttfn Glenn

The 2CV chassis is basically a flat rectangle, I'm not sure it would come close to accepting MX5 running gear without cutting it up, modifying it, throwing it away and making something that fits. Lotus style gets my vote (not that it counts for anything).

Looking at advice, opinions and info so far…… It seems a re-body would be the sensible way to go, via DVLA etc to keep it legal. Buy a cheap, legal entity, ensure current MOT then go through whole process. I would prefer another MX5 based build, as they are relatively simple, when you have a tame mechanic like nickwheeler to hold your tools/hand or Paul Y to remotely mock, motivate, advise and of course the rest of the Global gang to push it forward. I really do like the idea of this silly Le Lunatic build. But Rezin Rockit is being a dick right now…. Had it up to the farm yesterday testing for MOT, and it was spluttering and farting, dying etc. covid means I just brought it home and parked it after adding 20 litres of fresh fuel.

How about a Herald chassis, with MX5 running gear? They're about 3inches out on Wheelbase from what I can tell and the chassis looks manageable for the shape of the 2CV. A spitfire is much shorter and has too much frame at the front...

Yeah, there is a problem for every solution... Pretty much how my wife describes me at times, but usually with more swear words...

Probably the worst rear suspension set up ever. Oh come on, It really isnt that bad. Theoretically. Leaving everything else (suspension, brakes, steering, uncut chassis, anything else?) you could have a Herald with an engine swap and body swap and it still be 'a herald'. Happy to be proved wrong though. I like the Idea grizz. reminds me of the mini van over an MX5 on the scene a few years ago.

The glass is all flat, so it shouldn't be a problem to get E marked glass for the IVA.

There are 4x4 versions of the 2cv, so a rear diff and prop shaft to the back is already done, might be possible to marry a mx5 drivetrain to a 2cv, with no need for iva, as for handling, just slam it like the racers Ttfn Glenn

I saw a 2cv 4x4 on car and classic the other week. Best part of £100k
My Mrs saw this pile of scra. . . er I mean project on Facebook the other night. She had ideas about chopping the back end off and turning it into a flower cart for our shop. I told her there was interest in it already to transplant mx5 running gear on it. Hurry up and get it bought or I can see me having to get an angle grinder to it 🤣
