For as long as I can remember I have had a soft spot for a Mk1 Caddy. Back in the summer of 2022 my search for finally buying one started. I knew I wanted to build it so I wanted a clean base, preferably running and driving and not completely rotten. After a month or so of looking for a good example I stumbled across a white 89 model. The body was a little rough around the edges over all it was solid. The truck had been sat for a good 10-12 years and had covered fewer than 300 miles in that time. After looking over the truck I was sold and went to pick it up (pardon the pun) a few days later.
In the first week of owning it I covered more miles than it had done in 12 years, quite the risk after dragging it out of storage. Two days after collecting it, I headed straight to Santapod for ultimate street car. Not the worse ride there but ran into some issues on the way home. One of the cv boots decided to split and spray grease everywhere so once i got it home, the work started on fixing that, changing the oil, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm, rear brakes and sorting an issue with the headlights. A couple of months went by before collecting a winter daily which gave me the chance to get the truck off the road and start the project.
